..a message from m$oft..on my friends desktop...u know the rest..what may happen at max...and normally..serious Q..answer fast plzz

Well, is he really using a fake key or not? If he has a fake key all I can say is that his computer will lose some functionality, and will go to a very minimal mode after 30 days.

If he has an original key, I would advise he first check the windows update/WGA boards (they have a forum) to see if there are any known problems with WU/WGA. If not, call MS and see what they say.

not legit....thats the reason for being this tense..the guy calling me now and asking what is that..he is kinda newbie to computers..

will Bill's men come to have a cup of Tea at his place..

its for personal use only...not in a commercial place..

this is what happens when you install XP like this. In such cases ( IE demanding n00bs) , I tell them that XP costs 3.5k , and ubuntu is free, and offer to install either. But if they want to use XP, but not pay, I make them aware of the consequences, and let them know that they will be on their own, and certainly will get no support from my side.

and a situation like this would be a good time for me to say, " told ya so :P "

Ditto here too...

And in case they try to get over smart, I jus giv a normal xp cd(widout key) and ask them to find their own way...(After all they wanted xp right??? )

arrreee...yaarr..just install xp..disable windows update and the windows update service... install updates though ryan vm pack or autopatcher..and you are good to go !!!!!!!

any way...buying xp at 3.5k is worth it i think...after all......even though we hate micro$oft and blame xp for having the most number of security holes..the fact is that majority of the population still cant live without it...

so...the game continues !

LOL, with Ubuntu he would mess up the system in a day... with XP at least there is the 30 days grace period. I'd recommend the XP student edition; why everyone isn't using this is beyond my understanding.

i made my sister use it , and she didnt run into any issues. besides. there is zero chance of any spyware etc getting into it :D

you can install bad stuff only if you can install any stuff, and most ubuntu has pretty much all the stuff you need installed , or available in the repos
