Hi...!
Our college computer lab has almost 20Mbps download speed.... So I thought I'd download some movies thru "u torrent"... I loaded the torrent, but its showing a red download icon and download speed is zero....!!! what should be the issue?
did the college guys block torrents or something....?
Please help... :)

Take the cable from college to home and you will have 20Mbps download speed at home as well. You can then proceed to download some movies, :P

yes it's blocked and rightly it should be.

college broadband is not for downloading movies... of "any" type

Incase you are using public trackers then use torrific.com to queue torrents on their server and then download them as resumable direct downloads.

Change it to port 80 :)

May work.

BTW what about the seeders of the torrent you are trying to download. To verify try some other torrents.

^^But you see the red icon means incoming connections are blocked. But this thing had happened with me in BSNL 3G too long time back but still i was getting full speeds and torrents were getting downloaded properly :S

^^

He probably means the arrow colors, which translate to no throughput on the port. I also get a 'red' on connection status (far right bottom corner), but am able to transact successfully.

@OP:

Most probable it is blocked. And if they catch you, they will thrash your a$$, and you might earn a rustication too. Do not be naive.

then why are you bent on torrents do direct downloads. did happen to me too during my final year of engineering i used to then download files hosted from mediafire. speeds will be fantastic and you can do parallel downloads at the same time . i mean literally leech all the available bandwidth on IDM :P

yes, its the red download arrow, which usually is green while downloading.....

@OP: College broadband is not for personal use! And it is illegal to use college broadband for such things. Plus this means that whatever you are trying to do is a HACK. And hacking related discussions are not allowed in this forum.
