My argument was the growth and development opportunities you will have in the future. If you like being at the crux of it all and do your own development, QA and testing won't help much. They'll add to your experience, but not much to your learning.
I'm a B.E. Mechanical graduate, who also has a great interest in Computers. I don't know much about programming, but I understand binary logic and can devise algorithms to solve a problem.
