EDIT : OOPS typo in the thread name! MODS please correct it :D

released & upgraded to edgy eft, without issues, the only issue till now, is xmms although im able to use other apps. to listen to music. most issues are with radeon chipset. As I have an i845 chipset other than the 10 hrs. upgrade no issues at all :)

Another way would have been the cdrom upgrade. Will write about it in future :)

Ohhh cool :D I'll try this :D Prepare to be pestered by my doubts :ohyeah:
Edit: Hey, I can do a dist-upgrade on dapper naa?

There is an issue with installations on a RAID 0 boot partition. It recognizes the RAID 0 on my machine as 2 separate disks! Looks like debian is not supporting this yet. In contrast, FC6 was successfully able to detect and install on to the same RAID 0 partition.

There is definitely work arounds posted on net, but yet to verify the same.

Umm.. OK. You need to download a special version of Ubuntu for RAID and LVM to work. I believe the RAID they mention is software, but maybe even the hardware one requires the alternate installation disk.

I am running in a VM so I have zero problems for the most part. I hear that some people who have been trying to upgrade have had a problem.

I had two problems - manually editing the sources.list file seems to screw it up (just uncommenting stuff to include extra repositories completely screwed up apt and synaptics).

- I hate the fact that their clock settings just assume that the hardware clock is UTC. There is no way to change that, so I have to put my timezone as London.

- A third thing which may be something unique to me is that I have (and had in dapper as well) a problem in updating the stuff. It always downloads one file and then fails. I then have to restart apt/synaptics and then it gets the next couple of files. So for a 12 package download I have to go about restarting the transfer 5-6 times.

Say, if I do a dist-upgrade, where do these files get saved?? Cause I'm confident that I'll bork my install and will need to format and reinstall a number of times.

hey i installed edgy. sorta OK. the Nvidia driver install left me with command line only tho. seems the ubuntuguide wiki forgot to add nvidia-xconfig before restart. found that after checking the xorg.conf. it worked after i ran nvidia-xconfig and rebooted. but the bit about installing the beta nvidia drivers and beryl has me unsettled a bit... maybe later :D
