UI Stupidity in Calendar on S60v3 FP2!

Eventhough i have been happy with the various changes and UI changes that FP2 has brought about, there have been some changes which have come as a complete surprise. The system could have been better off without the changes.
This is one UI decision which has angered me no end. Take a look at these screenshots and try to explain the logic behind the huge gap between the icon and the entry text. I know that i have changed the system font, but this does not make any different to the effect. It is the same with the default system font. For many of the entries, i have to press the center key, open them to be able to read the complete entry.
The birthday entries are automated entries created by Papyrus from the Birthday details in my Contacts.

All the WinMo / Linux / Android / Mac OS X users can keep away. I love and am happy with Symbian. This is just a rant at their stupidity, for i am not a blind eye fanboi!
 
its the same on earlier s60v3 versions as well. i dont see this as a problem. its pretty much fine and looks normal. however, your font does make it look a bit different. have you increased the default font size?

You did not get the point.
Leave aside the font size / different font issue. If its the same on the earlier S60v3 OS, i don't remember noticing it. Can you post a screenshot for the same?
Are you trying to justify the illogical waste of screenspace between the icon and the entry text, which as you can see, leaves most of the entries incomplete, and requires you to open the entry to read the complete text?
 
I'm facing a more serious bug. I am just not able to make calls from my phone book, or by accessing the call logs. The call button just does not respond! This happens very frequently an is annoying. I then have to restart the mobile, so that it can work well for sometime :@

exact same problem with my N73 ME .once in a while .:no:even pressing the left button and selecting voice call doesnt work !

needs a restart.:@

will try formatting lets see if it helps .

the only thing i hate about the S60 phones or my N73 ME is that after some time ..they tend to lag and become slow..even on the latest firmware .

at times the camera takes 6-7 seconds to start :@

The hack for N96 is out. The hacking guys have mentioned that they are working on N85. So not long now. Though am happy without the hack too.
BTW, change your font, the phone looks much much cooler this way.

This slowdown issue is not associated with n82 , n95 8gb , n79, n85 etc ..:)

A bit offtopic but still - Nokia hints at 8 megapixel cameraphone for MWC And i hope it comes with both xenon plus led flash..

This or n85 refresh will be my next phone and if any of these have all the stuff i want then i am done with cell phones then ..

as you mentioned, i also never noticed it, but after looking at your post i took a look at my n73 had found the same thing. the reason i asked if your font size is increased because i typed in a memo 'Check movie tickets' and all the characters were visible on my phone. ill try to post a screenshot later.
i know the space might be a bit more than required, but it isnt very large. if you have a long note, it will exceed the viewable characters anyways.

I don't think the announcement is coming as soon as the MWC. They just announced the N97 not even 2 months back guys!! It's release is more than a month away.

What analysis we can come to with that image is that "un-surprisingly", Nokia is actually working on 8MP Camera Sensors. And we shall see a 8MP phone announcement this year for sure.

AFAIR, Nokia usually makes one major phone announcement per event - E Series or N Series. Nokia World was N series, and we all know that E75 is coming in MWC.

So am not holding my breath waiting for this 8MP phone. They really don't want to make their next flagship N97 a old dog even before it is released. They have learnt their lessons with N96 / N85.

Do you mean that the Check Movie Tickets" is visible on the standby screen? Because it is visible on the standby screen even for me. And it is "Check Movie Timings" actually.
But when you open the calendar in the Today view, it goes crazy and eats up the space.

Check out these two shots, proves how things on the standby are fine, but in calendar is stupid.

the gap on your phone is slightly more. but i suppose thats because of the larger screen.
