with increase in fuel prices day by day its really tough to maintain a car/bike for most of us. so i am posting a few tips and tricks that will give the maximum mileage for both of your car and bikes.
there are different factors that affect mileage.
first of all i will mention that you should do to your vehicle.-:
1>visit the authorized service center for your automobile at the specified period mentioned in the service manual.
2>regularly clean the air filter. this is very importan because your automobile breathes through it. a clogged air filter means its going to lower your mileage heavily. also replace it at specific period as mentioned in the manual.
3>replace faulty spark plugs, because a faulty spark plug will produce lesser spark and will result in incomplete combustion of fuel.
4>fill in air on the tires of your vehicle only at petrol pumps with specified air pressure mentioned for your vehicle. more
air pressure inside tire = more mileage but lesser grip on road.
lesser air pressure = more grip but lesser mileage.
optimum air pressure = optimum grip + optimum mileage.
5>periodically lubricate all moving parts to reduce friction and increase mileage.
6>get rid of all the excess weight inside your car. you get better mileage while you drive alone rather than driving with people.

second comes your riding style-:
1>drive at an optimum speed of 50-60 km/hr.
2>do not rev the engine when the vehicle is in neutral.
3>shut down the engine during traffic jams if you have to wait for more than 30 seconds.
4>don't keep your feet on brakes while riding and avoid unnecessary usage of clutch. remember that stop and go in city = lesser mileage rather than cruising in open road.
5>turn of the ac if not needed.
6>gradually accelerate rather than sudden acceleration.

now the acetone trick to ultimately boost the mileage to 10-35%.
what is acetone?
its a organic solvent. its is used to remove paint and also used at paint thinner and main component of nail polish remover.

where can i find acetone?
it can be found on chemical stores or hardware stores. i myself got it from an uncle who is a chemical dealer. ITS VERY IMPORTANT TO GET 100% PURE ACETONE.

which vehicle is qualified?
mostly petrol vehicles including cars and bikes. i have no experience with diesel cars. acetone works best with stock cars. anyone hardly finds any difference with modified ones.

what are the benifits?
acetone increases octane number of petrol, helps in vaporization of petrol and complete combustion. one finds increase in acceleration and reduced engine noise and smokes. but you will find mileage increase to 10-35% only after 100 kms.

what is the price?
usually 200 to 300rs per 500ml. i got mine for 200 bucks.

is it safe?
yes its absolutely safe. i have tested myself for 3 months and still using it. the engine does not seize or there is no other single problem that i have faced till date.

how much quantity to add in petrol?
2.5ml to 3ml per 1liter of normal petrol.
adding more than what i have specified will ultimately reduce mileage rather than increasing.

remember: 2.5ml-3ml of acetone to 1liter of normal petrol will increase mileage, smoothness and acceleration of vehicle. :cool2:
request to mods to make this threads sticky so as to make every one of TE aware of increasing mileage and finally leading to a greener world. thanks for reading my post. hope you like it. for any questions do pm/post here. i would be happy to help.:)

Will give a try with my Pulsar 150 and will update it after a week :) any how thanks for the info bro.....

ok bro. i myself getting 42.7 km/l on my r15 for 3moths rather than normal 38-40 while using 2.5ml. today i have put 3ml. lets see how much more i get with it.

heh. do you the effects of acetone on rubber and plastic parts? it will eat them away to glory!

esp on bikes with CV carbs. If the diaphragm erodes, thats ~500rs of repairs. not to mention the rubber tip of the float needle, which is another ~400rs. Misc o rings eroding means leaky engine.

lols.. aint this towards discouraging carpool ? ;)
I think increasing mileage wouldn't be as simple as just adding acetone! We wouldn't have had gas companies spending milllions to research on high power fuels, otherwise. I would recommend staying away from Acetone.
Check this -

"Mythbusters" show on Discovery Channel (US) performed a test in Episode 58 by using 2.56 oz of acetone in 10 gallons of gasoline. This was an average value respect to what recommended and the results showed no improvements in mileage and even a slight decrease of it.

Also, acetone has a high solvent and corrosive power on many rubber and plastic materials and it could seriously damage them if used for cars' fuel lines (pipes, O-rings and gaskets that form and connect gasoline filters and pumps). Considering the many models of cars and other vehicles in commerce and that fuel lines are not necessarily chosen and tested by car companies to tolerate acetone, some models of cars can suffer no damage while others can met serious problems. It's better to remind you that a gasoline leak from a tube can cause a fire in your car in every moment! The personal experiences reported in the references are often contrasting on this issue, hence, it's better to be very prudent.

Acetone can't be used in much higher amounts than those reported above because it begins to reduce the energy released by gasoline combustion. In fact, acetone combustion produces 1785.7 KJoule/mole, less than 2202 KJoule/mole of propane (with a similar molecular structure) and much less than 4163 KJoule/mole of n-hexane that is one of the main components of gasoline. This is a common feature of all oxygen-containing organic molecules respect to those formed by C and H only.

1) Are your sure that Acetone + Petrol combination wont omit any HARMFUL smoke in to air, may be harmful for others.

2) What if sudden big lot of smoke enter in to car by air pressure or any mean will be safe for insiders?

3) In my view before adding anything in to fuel need to do test for safety.

HTH

i myself have tested and no harm caused to engine parts. the oil company actually spreads these rumors because the oil company don't wan to reduce their sales. a friend of mine having rtr 180 previously getting 35km/l is getting 43+. there is no harm in trying.

do you guys know that petrol itself is also a solvent? and acetone that i am telling is 3ml per 100ml of petrol which is very small amount to cause any harm.

here is the video from youtube which motivated me to write this-:
