Nokia C1-02 ~ Rs.2069.
These low end phones doesnt have great music quality.
If you want a good music phone spend a bit more and go for the Samsung C3300 ~ 3.1k-3.3k. but thats a touch screen phone and not sure if your mom will be comfortable with that

Same here looking for a cheap phone for my maternal uncle.
Budget : 3.5k
Requirement : Camera, Music, and above all build quality. He bought one LG phone and the circuit got short
Preference : Specially looking for Nokia as build quality is main requirement.
Presently looking at Nokia 2700.

Already she got mobile phone. Now she wants to listen to music and asked me to buy something (like i pod). I suggested her to buy a mobile phone rather than spending 3k or more for an ipod.
Brand - Any
Budget - 2.5k (max) including memory card (if I gotta purchase separately)
Phone should play popular music files
Should be bar type model (no slide, flip etc..)
Long lasting battery
Should be reliable
No need of camera but should able to view photos and play videos (or atleast photos)
