I had a similar problem with my ipad .It used to open apps and type all by itself ,tried everything but issue was still there .Even Apple did not have a clue what was happening, only solution was RMA.

What Charger r u using with the pixi is it the original palm one
sometimes this is due to other charger
sometimes this is due to other charger

Most of the HTC issues were touch screen becoming non responsive and not acting crazy like OP'case and the replacement ipad i had for one day.
