Sorry for the late update.
I went to MTNL Office at Kalkaji Ex. a month ago. They told me to come after two weeks. Went there again after 3 weeks. They told me they will send a worker to check the "feasibility" in our locality. I went to the office again last friday. I was given the no. of one MANSINGH guy. Apparently they had not sent the worker earlier/he had not visited yet. I called him up last night and he told me there's no MTNL service in our gali. I was like "WTH!". I mean can you believe it? A govt. service provider not available here. Unbelievable. Its not like Tqbd Ex is located in nowhere or something. I think he lied about it. Because the other day i saw a mtnl worker near a telephone line (the multi-port phone line thing on electric posts) clutching a landline-like phone. I'll be going to their office again today.
Btw I'm staying in Tqbd Ex. Gali 29.
@agupta02 dunno dude. If its true that mtnl doesnt provide service then my only option is to get TIKONA BB. I saw a poster nearby "1mbps 899, 2mbps 999 Fully unlimited". I expect there's FUP. Will call them tonight.
@blackperl where do you live?[DOUBLEPOST=1378881145][/DOUBLEPOST]Forgot to mention something, i can see 3-4 wifi signals on my phone. Now where do they come from?? :?

Try for Reliance Thunder Plan too:

Contact Nitesh @ 9582296567 / 9015325650.

I saw his no. on poster on a pillar.
Thanks a ton. I just checked the reliance site.
I guess its safe to say that the 599, 699 and 1099 are true unlimited. But what does advance monthly rental mean? It makes it look like a pre-paid connection.
And could you tell me more about this:
"Browsing is little slow, you
need to clear the DNS
manually or re-login to
reliance page when session time outs"?[DOUBLEPOST=1378901476][/DOUBLEPOST]@hari a reminder, my usage would be extreme downloads and online gaming. Any idea about the latency? I hope i wont lag/get dc'd. T.T
and do they give wifi router? I dont have the budget to get a separate router anymore. :(

Don't go over reliance site, they won't respond.
They will take your request and may contact you occasionally.

No prepaid, its postpaid plans but you have paid in advanced to avoid installation charges, else you can go with postpaid plans as well.

Ping and jitter are li'l high & MOS is low(around 2), won't affect you unless you are very much into online gaming or VOIP calls.
Web pages may take 3-4 sec more to open.

I have now confirmed, Reliance BB requires login after every 12 hours to maintain the session.
You can't skip that, use some plugin to auto-login.

I guess one has to sacrifice something huh. :/
but that log-in is the worst of all. mtnl and airtel do not even require the users to log-in. They can just switch on router adapter and start using net immediately.
Btw how much do you pay in total monthly? How much would i need to spend for first connection? Need to calculate the possible expenditure. I dont wanna be surprised with the bills served later.

^^I pay close to 780-790 for the 2 Mbps plan.

Users here suggest that speed in 4 Mbps plan is not upto the mark.
So this is the VFM plan in this range.

Expenses: Only reliance guy can tell you more precisely, since there may be changes in the policy/plan.
And Advance Rental plan is always cheap as compared to postpaid ones(10% around).

thanks. heh while coming back from college i saw a cyber cafe nearby. They told me they used mtnl service. So basically the person who told me that there's no connection lied.
Holding my plan to call the reliance guy for a while. Will go to mtnl office this saturday or monday.

i live safdadjung enclave ,exchange is bikajikama place ! go to your area SDO ,all problem solved
also take his number in case if u get some fault like cable cut ,no dial tone ,it will help you
if any one using land line in your area /building,then sure there will be bb connection

Another question: does telephone ports on electric poles mean broadband is possible?

well mtnl broadband need at least landlines connection ,so u need landline connection for bb
u will get free land line with every bb of mtnl ,which u can use for incoming and local outgoing also

Currently using 1 mbps plan with mtnl but i am also thinking of switching to Reliance as their plans are very good than mtnl

I'd Say no to Reliance if you make VOIP/ online Gaming. It is however Good for Leechers!
Getting an connection is also not easy. Better find local guy's no and get one!

Unless its for heavy downloads i would recommend you against taking a reliance bb connection.

Bad news. I just came back from mtnl office.
There was some misunderstanding in the feasibility thing. Its not that there's no connection but there's a limitation. There can be only 10 connections in a gali. Apparently some trunk lines were cut/not working so people fought for those 10 connections. So one can get a new connection only when one of the 10 existing users disconnect their number which is unlikely to happen. The situation is temporary or so i was told. The official also mentioned that they can give a new connection but no fund is coming from the government. Not suprising considering they dont even want to upgrade their shabby office here.
Another bad news. I called up the reliance guy and he told me a similar thing. There is no reliance connection here.
Tqbd sucks! Will put up this stupid apartment for sale and move out.

Anyway I went to Spectranet office (yes i love keeping a back-up plan, in total i have 4 net providers in mind. XD ) and enquired about their plans and services. 2mbps true unlimited for 2200. I did a demo test, speedtest gave 2mbps DL and 1.90mbps UL.
There was no demo test for 1mbps which costs 1300.
There was also a limited 25GB plan for 1600rs, 4mbps day and 6mbps night. Registration charge 700rs extra.

Last option Tikona BB. 1mbps 899 and 2mbps 999. Not sure about the details. Will call them in a while.
Btw what's the cheapest n-draft wifi router which i can get?

Tikona and Spectranet are both not very reliable or so I've heard. You can try Airtel.
@blackperl Even I stay in Safdarjung Enclave and have used MTNL broadband previously but in my experience their service is not very dependable especially in the rains. I am using Airtel right now and although they charge me thru the nose, the service is dependable.

may be but i m using mtnl from last 7 years and hardly downtime ,yup its some time seems slow in heavy rain but just for few hours ,rest work fine for me ! i don't use failtel coz of their fup :(
all u need a stable landlines connection for stable broadband

Failtel service is surely the best but their post fup speed is only 256k and that is not broadband anymore which is unacceptable.
