Unlimited Internet in mumbai? wich is the best 4 256kbps

Which ISP's 256K you talking about??

Normally @ 256K line Minimum is 16KBps and Maximum is 30KBps. Technically one should get 32KBps but nobody is that accurate you know..

^^ Its not about accuracies.. Service delivery has its overheads and TRAI provides a margin for it. Any ISP is required to ensure that the speeds provided are >or= 80% of the claimed speeds.
 
and that is why i've mentioned those speeds.

My frnd too has mtnl net and on 256kbps line he gets 40kBps on rapidshare avg...and much more on normal downloads....

I was trying to get 400kbps from reliance but not fesible in my area...so again i m checking with mtnl....as i was ready to pay 935 for reliance 1122 for mtnl wont b bad....if i get same speed ard 400kbps stuff

As my present hathway net has 256 kbps plan for 730(but heard they increased the price to 786 now)
And than straight 512kbps that too more than double expensive than 256kbps for ard 1700....
 
well dont stick to ur frnd's 40KBps from MTNL.. thz not gonna stay forever.. MTNL have started capping speeds alot.. not all on 256KBps get 2MBps or more speeds. This may remain as 400KBps to u if ur damn lucky to miss their capping.. Anyway its not their fault.. they are giving u 256K and u are paying for it so one cant xpect to get more instead of for what you are paying.

I'd still suggest, try with Sify for 256-512KBps scheme day night Unlimited. Day its 256KB and night its 512KB.. which will give you 65KBps @ Nights and price is as same as MTNL's its something around 1272/- All Inclusive Per Month.

if i apply for it, how long will it take to get the sify connection(goragaon(w), mumbai)?
 
Well i cant comment on that.. but my bro's got connected in 2 days..

Call up sify and get it sorted.. they'll book ur connection on fone probably and will send somebody.. and mention that its urgent so they'll put urs on priority.

Tho, do get it clarified on the type of connection they are offering. Like, PPPOe or their sick Java based application.

Probably they'll put u on their network with IP range of 10.x.x.x, so if you are using a router, u may have to do settings on it.

That is 4 Digits anyways as its 999+Tax..:P 2ndly its Airtel not good for everyone.. either it suits u or it doesnt

havent ppl heard that airtel has datacaps and throttles speeds for those that exceed these speeds?
 
i have heard that there are some issues with Sify right now... not sure abt it though....

wat abt MTNL? do we need to have its lan phone? i was under the impression that we needed to have one....
 
Yup.. you cant have MTNL Internet if you dont have a Land Line. Therz no other way to have that unfortunately.. :(

Sify's speeds seem to slow down at night for some reason. I have surfed the web at a friend's place which has a 256kbps UL connection (799 pm) and the download speeds go down to <10KBps after 11pm. It goes back to 30KBps in the morning though.
 
Well nobody is talkin abuot tha scheme.. and must be some technical issue or something for ur frnd's a/c. I was talking about 256K with 512K (day night) Unlimited.
