By 2100, 80 percent of the world's populations will live in cities.

The world will have a few hundred languages at the most (currently we have more than 7000)

Global life expectancy will be around 81 years. Nowadays, our life expectancy is at 68 years.

Use of oil, natural gas and coal will drop to almost zero. These finite sources of energy will eventually become extinct, especially at our rate of consumption.

The most important thing is that none of us will be there to see it :):)

UN's projection of our world in 2100 - Ten Billion People, No Oil and Not Enough Food

India's present day condition - 1.21 Billion People, No Oil and Not Enough Food

No Oil - because of high prices
Not Enough Food - because of inflated rates.

The high price of food will ensure that we Indians will die from starvation. See Indian government is smart it is doing everything to reduce the population - Increasing Taxes, fuel prices, food price, interest rates, property price, bad roads so that you get stuck in traffic jams and die choking on polluted air, increasing cost of medicine, reducing medical insurance etc.,

One way or the other i.e., either by starvation or suicide the common man will die thus reducing the population. Oh I forgot to mention there was an article saying that suicide will be legalized.

Go India Go :hap2:

Ouch. I hope you invented all that by yourself, because that's just scary. :( Sounds like India's bio-war on itself.

The way I see it, Indians will have a century's worth of experience(in poverty) over the rest of the world and thus finally become world leaders in 2100.

How does this projection matters when everyone is just living for themselves and for now. And who is borthered for anything which is coming after 89 yrs

Re: UN's projection of our world in 2100 - Ten Billion People, No Oil and Not Enough

All this is assuming that we won't have major developments in the next century.

I mean 50 years back who could've predicted that people would spend hours a day talking over the internet on discussion board to random strangers who are probably sitting hundreds of kilometers away from each other? It would sound absolutely bizarre to a person of the 50s if you went back in time and tried to explain all this to him. I mean developments like internet, phones, gaming consoles are unprecedented and were not even thought off.

ust imagine someone somewhere might be working on something *right now* which could become a global phenomenon ... 30 years from now.

The same way, back in 1900 people would've predicted a completely different fate. Perhaps one of world colonization or widespread destruction and yet here we are in pretty decent condition imo. Don't bother so much about the future, what has to happen will happen. Even if nothing happens, we'll adapt cause thats what we humans are good at :) (or cause we have no other option )

Mankind will pull through whatever be the situation. And I strongly believe in that.
