Guys

My friend is coming down from the US of A this dec, so I was thinking about getting myself either a GTX 470 or a HD 5850. I currently own a GTX 260 oced to GTX 285 levels:ohyeah: So do you think a GTX 470 or a HD 5850 will be an worthy upgrade? I plan to overclock.:D

I am getting the HD5850 for ~215$+ Free Shipping and the GTX 470 for ~229$ + Free shipping

Thanks in advance

No need to buy seriously, wait for HD6970 gonna launch real soon. Foolish to buy anything else within it's launch(who knows it might cause price war etc etc)

I suggest you to get the GTX470 if you really wanna upgrade now

But i recommend to wait for GTX580/570 and HD 6970 to come out first

Until unless you use 2 or 3 monitors, and need Direct X 11 support desperately and have moolah to spare... GTX 285 standard is enough to throttle any game even today at full HD resolutions (Except Crysis) with acceptable eye candy...

Have a look at this chart and go through the conclusion... It makes no sense upgrading you GFX card unless the performance difference is by at least 3 grades... Anything lesser you wouldn't even notice the difference...

The 6970 is gonna be out of budget I guess. The 6970 might cause a price war with gtx 580 but cards at the 200$ range are not gonna be affected by price wars in the premium end.If you are in a hurry and can spend a bit more and get the HD 6870 .Also check this out if you are tight on budget

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100282-3SR Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity

199$!!!!!!!!!!!!
Better get this over the others at this price.
