Beginner
Just picked up a 24" dell U2412 monitor, my 560 Ti is not cutting it for gaming at 1900 X 1200
I have a Corsair TX 850, i5 2500K with 8 gigs of Corsair vengeance
I mostly play Starcraft 2, Torchlight 2, Witcher 2 etc

I was thinking about getting a GTX 660, any other choices around 15K?
Which is the best GTX 660 to get?

From what I see you should be fine with your 560 Ti how much FPS are you getting??
Around 15k GTX 660 is best, 2nd best will be 7850 but this won't be a big upgrade from 560 Ti, a 660 Ti or 7950 will be a worth it upgrade.

It was fine at 1680 1050 on my 22" but it is not cutting it for the 24"
My first choice was the 6600 ti but saw a lot of error issues with them, especially the dreaded driver has recovered error
I have been an Nvidia user all along, so switching to ATI is a bit daunting

Well if you can try selling your 560 Ti then with the extra money go for 670 as long time and future proof, but the games you are playing are not known to be GPU intensive, still not sure why its not cutting at 1080p.

An error the card is a MSI Twin Frozr GTX 560 not the Ti version
How much can I sell it for?

How old is it? Depending on warranty and all, not more than ~6500/- + shipping.

^^ There is no card off that name, it is the GTX660Ti.

What is so daunting to switch over from one brand to another. As long as the purchase is to your satisfaction and you enjoy the product.

Now if you have convoluted justification that nVidia is l337 and ATi (now AMD graphics divsion) is the H4xx, I cannot change your mindset. So be willing to shell out the cash for a GTX660Ti OR above.

I would suggest you go for a 7870 or 7850(though as mentioned by member above, its not worthy upgrade), 660ti is good option but its 192-bit compared to 256-bit on the AMD cards
Some reviews have mentioned the the memory bandwidth is narrower which causes some performance issues
You can check out the detailed review of 660 on Toms Hardware for more insight in it

Thanks, I bought it for 14K about a year & a half back, so 6.5K sounds reasonable
My bad on getting the card name wrong :)

I have been a long term Nvidia user, hence more familiar & comfortable with the Nvidia line
The 7850 from what I hear is a side step & the 7870 is pricy

I also like the power efficiency & the cooler temps of the GTX660

I was not aware of this, will look in to it, thanks

At that rez I would suggest looking for a 2nd hand 580 and then maybe getting one more 6 months or so down the line for SLI . I personally also prefer nvidia but have been using an ATI 6950 for 6 months or so there is no difference apart from not having physx effects in very very few games here and there.

^^ No point, the power draw is very high, frame rates are at par and noise levels are also substantially lower in the newer card.

GTX660 vs. GTX580 benchmark run

SLi would be the last thing recommended that also with such an old card, OP might as well buy an AMD6990 to trumpet his case.

My case is a Cooler Master Cavalier, which I have been reusing for the past 5 years, I think a 7950, will be a really tight fit in there, at over 10 inches
I am leaning more towards a 660 Ti, which one would you guys recommend?

Someone is selling MSI GTX 660 Ti at 19.5 k in other forum. You should take a good look at it. Even if it's overvolted, it still performs great and MSI will honor the 3hr warranty even if it goes kaput in middle of it's life.

Even the GTX660Ti comes in as a 10" plus card. Most custom coolers on exacerbate the issue. Upgrade your cabinet as well.

Only ZOTAC! has a relatively smaller card but that is because of the stock GTX660Ti PCB used by them but be wary the card is noisy under load.

Which SMPS are you running?

Here is the deal you are referring to, me thinks.

I would recommend anyone in need of a GTX660Ti, fast should snap it up. Cheerio!

I would prefer to pick up a new card, also it is not competitively priced

=|

It is like everyone is selling the GTX660Ti around you. Also, the card is two days old, he is shipping it to you (free), he is open to trade as well and in-case the card does not work on arrival then by all means avail the warranty it has.

Not being pedantic, the card is three months old & has already gone through two owners
Also my experiences with MSI have not been the greatest

Sell that 560ti, and with that selling price + your own addition, you can buy GTX670, which will be enough for at least 2 years to come.

He has a GTX560 (vanilla) in-case you are not following the thread.
