Graphic Cards Upgrade - Which Graphics Card (and others)

Hi all!

I've currently got an E6300 coupled with a 7900GS doing duty on a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3. They're powered by an Antec TP2.0 480W (36A across two 12V rails).

I want to upgrade my graphics card and am considering the 9800GTX+ and the GTX 260 Core 216 (No ATI because CUDA support is a MUST).

After reading up a lot, I figure that my current PSU can power a 9800GTX+ fine, but I'm not sure about the GTX 260.

Also, since I'm sticking to my 17" LCD at just 1280x1024 res, do you think it makes sense to invest in a GTX 260? Some reviews I've read (guru3d.com in particular) show > 35% perf increase (Mass Effect) even at this low res.

And that wasn't even a core 216.

I'd appreciate any advice you can give!

P.S I'm also getting a Zalman CNPS9700 and some decent G-Skill 4gig DDR2 800 to allow me to push the CPU up to some decent speeds.
And the PSU I'm considering for the GTX 260 is PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W
 
ur PSU will handle 9800GTX+ or GTX260 SP216

n if u buy EPS 610 PSU then problem at all with GTX260 & pusing that CPU .

if u want to always be on safe side get EPS 610 or then ANTC 480W will be enough also ur PSU has god efficiency and enough Ampere ratings for GTX260 SP216 .

9800GTX+ is not good performer considring 4850 equals its performance or in some case it beats 9800GTX+ .

so right now go for GTX260 SP216 ........as u have seen it's reviews u must have seens it performance along with 4870 too ..
 
Ok! Buying the GTX 260 and keeping current PSU!

I suppose I'll go for the EPS610 if... er... the Antec blows up or something, I suppose. :D

then...........i don't think ur ANTEC will blow up......that easily

BUT 9800GX2 will requre lots of POWER .
so GTX260 SP216

with ANTEC 480 you will be at risk having 9800GX2 .

KMD hmm......
then it will be better to buy GTX260 SP216 frm KMD;)
 
Ya, I asked for a quote on Monday... for a whole truckload of stuff. Must be why he's taking so much time. ^_^
