CPU/Mobo upgrading from i7 920 D0 to i7 2600K --- Worth it?????

Hi

I currently own a i7 920 D0 based rig (full config in my siggy).

I am thinking of selling this off and get a SB with i7 2600k.
The rig is mainly used for gaming, downloading, running VMs, movies etc.

So lemme know whether its worth it to upgrade......

Also i am upgrading the spkrs to SONY HT DDW 5500.
So plz do suggest a good enuf audio card.

Nah imo no not at all. You have a pretty killer rig hard to really vfm improve anything in it If you have the cash now maybe a good time to get a SSD.

I'd suggest waiting out the SB generation. Wait till Ivy Bridge or something..

no point in upgrading unless u are doing hardcore video editing, or animations.

no point downgrading and getting stuck to 4 cores on that platform.

atleast x58 has 6 cores for a possible upgrade a year down the line

When u wud feel like ur CPU is becoming a bottleneck then upgrade ur rig... Use the current rig for 1 year more...

omg upgrading from a i7 920 already! (I jus upgraded from a c2d to i5 jus now after 4 years )
