Graphic Cards Upgrading GPU - Need Advice

I have been using an MSI 5850 (Ati Radeon) Twin Frozr 2 edition for 2 years now. I want to upgrade to something better and have a budget of 15-18k.
I only playing racing/FPS titles and hope to play the latest / upcoming titles with all the bells and whistles @ 1920x1080 for atleast the next two years. Kindly suggest something which suits my requirements.
The following are my system specs:-
  1. Intel Core i5 - 3550 (Stock @ 3.4 Ghz)
  2. Gigabyte B-75M-D3H
  3. 16 GB (4x4) DDR3 - 1600 Mhz GSkill Sniper Ram
  4. Corsair VX 550
  5. Dell g2410H @ 1920x1080 (24")
  6. Coolermaster USP 100

An nVidia GTX670 OR HIS IceQ Turbo 7950 3GB is in the orders.

The GTX660Ti is also a ready reckoner but the asymmetrical distribution of memory is what worries me, over-clocking it will be highly dependent on which card you get; as nVidia has not released any reference card for the GTX660Ti and every 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] party manufacturer has put their own spin on these cards and most of them come with varying levels of factory-over-clocking which eat into homebrew over-clocks.
 
What would be the cost of the cards you've mentioned? Will they fit into the 15-18k bracket?

They are way over that bracket Sire, the GTX670 stock edition would set you back by ~28000/- and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] party offerings will cost you ~32000/-.

AMD HD7950 will cost you approximately ~25000/- for a MSi card whilst the HIS IceQ Turbo 7950 3GB will set you back by ~29000/-.

For cards that will land in the ~15000/- -->18000/- INR price bracket you have only the HD7850 2GB to look towards but rumours are abound that nVidia will unleash the GTX660 [non-Ti] ~September 12[SUP]th[/SUP] and then we might witness some sharp price realignments by both companies.

I will not be overclocking the hardware. Is the 7850 the best that fits in my budget? Will it be good for the next 2 years?
Will my corsair vx 550 be enough if I am to run a Ati 7870 with my existing system specs? I will not overclock anything.

That is fine Sir, for now yes the HD7850 2GB is the only option in that price range (15000/- -->18000/-), if you do not mind pony-up the ~2000/- INR extra and get the HD7870 2GB from flipkart.com --> Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7870 HDMI OC Edition 2 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card | Graphics Card | Flipkart.com.

Else, if you can wait for a couple of week(s) then the nVidia GTX660 (GK107) looks like it is going to shake things up in this price band.

That be the GTX660Ti and where is the card priced that way apart from Tech2in? Need credible source proof (online OR offline).

I was talking about the GTX660 based on the GK107 CPU not the top of the line GK104.
 
Would I need to upgrade the PSU I have currently - see first post for full config(Corsair vx550) to run a Nvidia 660Ti?
 
Corsair VX550 is good enough to run HD7870 OR GTX660Ti so no need to change the PSU.With your budget i'd recommend you to get Sapphire/MSI HD7870 OC which is a steal @19k so go for it.

The GTX660 might break it and will consume lesser power (more inline with the HD7850).

Wait till 13[SUP]th[/SUP] and depending on how well the GTX660 performs and how it is priced make a call between that and the HD7870 / GTX660Ti priced at ~20000/- thereabouts.

I am sorry I did not completely respond to your query earlier, the VX550W is good for upto the HD7950 3GB with the RIG you have put together (non-over clocking).
 
I don't see GTX660Ti lower than 24k so i'd like to see some source of 20k?,GTX660 will hit market maybe @17-18k will see about it's performance.

Apart from that, I definitely throw my weight behind the GTX660 because every Kepler card has completely hammered every contemporary Southern Island card decisively. And OP is not over-clocking so I see no reason to recommend the HD7870 2GB over the GTX660 / 660Ti (if they are prices sanely).

@sunny27 are you are going to use Linux distros / program in Linux OR use any animations suites, if any of these is requisite then I suggest that you go for the AMD HD7870 over everything else. If gaming is the main forte of the system then the GTX660 / 660Ti (depending on effective pricing).

The CS:GO is no benchmark of the performance of a HD7850 2GB and 250+ fps is not a great thing with a game of that calibre / standing in graphics detail. If you want to bench your card run BattleField 3 OR The Witcher 2 with all the bells and whistles cranked up.
