Upgrading unlocked iPhone from 1.0.2 to 1.1.x

I didn't know that you could use ZiPhone to virginize the baseband! Will give it a shot when I'm free and post back.
 
Hey,

If I have a 1.1.1 3.9 BL iPhone, should I just update to 1.1.3 using iTunes, and then run ZiPhone, selecting unlock, activate and jailbreak?

Also, is iTunes 7.6 mandatory or is 7.5 fine?
 
Was looking at the new ZiPhone and I'm not sure how to use it to virginize the phone. Do I use the Refurbish option???
 
@Seed: Yeah, that should work fine. That's what I did with my 1.0.2 phone. I don't think the version of iTunes would make too much of a difference. I was on 7.5 to begin with. Used 7.6 as well.

I have 1.0.2 (1C98) Iphone with modem firmware 03.14.08_G. everything is working fine....How do i go about upgrading it to 1.1.3 firmware.....

Bit of a noob at this...if someone could explain what does revirginizing mean ?

If everything is working fine, all you'd need to do is use iTunes to upgrade to 1.1.3 and then use ZiPhone to jailbreak, activate and unlock it. That's essentially what I did, and it works. My only issue is wifi not working. But that has nothing to do with the upgrade. It didn't work even before that. I thought upgrading might fix it, but it didn't. So nothing much for you to worry about!
 
After upgrading to the latest version the battery life has come down,anyone who has upgraded is facing this problem
 
Finally managed to virginize the phone!! I'm now at 1.0.2 with baseband 3.14.08_G and still no wifi!!! Bloody hell! Will try to restore to 1.0.2 once again and see what happens!! Keeping my fingers crossed!
 
Ok, tried it twice now and still no go. I'm guessing it's more than just a baseband problem. Looks like a hardware issue. I read somewhere about some dude getting his wifi working after changing the comm board on the phone which set him back about $150! :( Not worth it just for wifi.
 
Back to 1.1.3, everything working except wifi! Thanks to everyone who helped out. Guess it's just my luck that it's a dud piece!
 
i suggest sell it in the grey market............they anyway dont check if the wifi is working or not..........besides u can flash 1.1.3 saying its brand new........and then get another piece from katmandude........u might just end up paying 1-2k more..........worth it ;)
 
^^Sorry to hear about hat Edrill. Like Raging Ice said, your best bet is to sell it off at whatever cost in the grey market. Without mentioning the WiFi bit of course.

Yogi, you'll always have those sort of battery issues if you've installed a lot of applications and then 'updated' to the new firmware. That's why it is always recommended to 'restore' to the latest firmware. That way, everything gets wiped off and you can start on a clean slate. I'd strongly suggest you restore back to 1.1.3 and use ZiPhone to jailbreak/activate/unlock.
