UPS for router

I need a UPS for my router.
I have a bsnl fiber connection. My router setup is like, there is bsnl router which takes PON input, but only supports 2.4GHz wifi. To get 5GHz wifi, I connected my tplink archer C6 to bsnl router with LAN cable.

So I need a UPS to connect either both(if possible) or atleast the bsnl router. If anyone is using something reliable, please suggest.
Amazon is flooded with so many models with doubtful reviews and I can't decide which one to take. Need atleast 2 hours backup, without tripping the router to restart, when power goes off.
 
If form-factor is something you are looking then resonate router UPS what you should look. But those ups only connect 1 devices.

best option is to buy a non-smart ups from local, like microtek/luminous/vgurd, you can get a decent ~2k, and power backup will be monstrous.
most of the circuit based USP "supposed" to self power off if load is below 5/8watts or something, if you connecting both devices, i think it will be well over 8-10 watts and just ignore this gimmick.
i use older version of this - https://www.amazon.in/dp/B016XVRKZM/ Which suppose to do this auto cut, but even with only firestick connected it never shuts itslef down.

I never considered a normal ups.. Earlier I had only 1 router and it used to switch off after a while when connected to my pc UPS( only router). I will try connecting 2 routers now. But the only prob is we have to fix the UPS on wall and that will again add extra bucks for wall fixtures, drilling or shelf. Considering this normal UPS, say 600VA, how many hours can it provide backup approximately? My both routers are 12V x 1 Amp.
Definitely I’ll buy these in local store only.

Also, is the resonate model u mentioned any good?
 
+1 for normal computer UPS. My experience with these router UPS isn't very good. They barely last a year. The price difference isn't much compared to a proper computer UPS and you can get the battery replaced easily when they run out.

you can keep ups on table or floor, no need for shelf unless its a personal home requirement.
Resonate ups are good but they have some limitation like only 1 device and power compatibility issues if you upgrade to a different router in future.
do remember some of these ups need a minimum load on battery or else they shut down when they cant detect enough load of smaller equipments like router/modem.

Is there anyway I can check whether they shut down or not before buying? Any theoretical methods?

check this video out - and see if any valuable information. -

resonate - i don't have personal experience, but from friends/family, that model cost roughly rs.1100-1200/- during early covid lockdown time, and people were started working form home.
The form factor was nice and compact.

If the power-cuts are that frequent that you need a backup for your router then perhaps invest in an inverter instead? You'd have your lights/fans/routers and maybe a couple laptops/mobile chargers too.

On the other hand a UPS too can do well for just routers and chargers but as pointed out already, low power auto cut-off may or may not be an issue.

ahh okay , just go with any standard 600 VA UPS , 600VA UPS works on 12V/7AH battery ; 12 x 7 =84 Watt-hour (that is your capacity) ; Theoretically 5W(assuming thats load of your 2 routers) load will work for maximum of 84/5 = 16.8 Hours assuming 100% efficiency.

hope this helps , you can use this calculation as you scale up for larger capacity UPS , till they are single battery ones.

you can also get UPS with built in energy monitoring as well if you wanna monitor and control the energy draw if you are feeling fancy.

Bought almost 2 years back for 2k.

Its battery life went down drastically after 1 year, I changed the battery to an exide one for like 1k. Now with just a router, it lasts about 6 hours or so, honestly needed that long just once.

Friend has it, didn't test battery life but limitation is it will power only a router unlike the former. So this is out the question for you.

I was of the same opinion, but we are planning to move out to a different flat in few months.. Hence cannot make such a big investment yet (would be atleast 20k I guess).
Besides our orthodox owner thinks house wiring will be somehow messed up if we install inverter.

If it comes for 2 to 3 hours, then it serves my purpose. Seems 600VA is more than enough. With this power, maybe I can fully charge office laptop atleast once.

how big is the battery of your laptop?
yes it would definitely last you more than 6-7 hours on a full charge and if nothing else is connected to those routers

A 600 VA UPS will give you roughly 2 hours of charge time , assuming you wont be heavily using the laptop while charging then it would be even less(depending upon the spec of your laptop).

if your use consist of charging a laptop as well and im guessing you would need to use a power strip to connect 3 devices and UPS generally don't have that many outlets that would lead to further inefficiency, in this case 1KVA UPS would be better suited to your needed and the cost delta from a 600 VA ups is just minimal.

this is the cheapest UPS in the market that will suit your need , search a little more to find it at even lower price , it contains 2 batteries , dont buy 1kva UPS with single batteries because they will be using big proprietary battery sizes that will be a pain to find in the aftermarket , these 12V,7.2A batteries are cheap and available everywhere and have good scrap value.

Thanks for the info... Laptop charging is bonus.. I was only expecting backup for routers.

I called up a shop where I bought my pc..They suggested below model.

well this is a good UPS as well but its a single battery 650VA UPS , its gonna be fine for the routers but wont give good backup if you are gonna charge laptop with it , ultimately it depends on your usage pattern, power draw of your laptop and the length of the power cut in area , if it is less than an hour , then you should be fine , if they are longer like 2-3 hours at a time then 1KVA is the one for you.
