Back again after a very successful day at the hospital :). Have had 4 donors come in today, of which 2 were from good ol' TE :D. Many many thanks to our awesome member Megamind and his good friend Nizam.

Thank you, both of you. Was feeling really tense today wondering how many people will actually turn up. Thanks to you all, me and my family can go to sleep peacefully tonight. Thanks again :) Your support and prompt help is very much appreciated.

So far, there are 6 donors for platelets, and 1 more candidate is supposed to come tomorrow. And this has been possible with the assistance of the awesome forum that TE is. Can't thank you all enough for the awesome level of compassion and support displayed. My mom and sister were so surprised when they came to know about the people who came to donate platelets :). My mom actually said - "Aisa bhi hota hai? You have never even met these people and yet they have come to donate platelets because you all are members of a forum? That's fantastic!" :D. Couldn't be more proud of TE :clap:

I am in Tamilnadu,but not in Chennai.Mine is A1+.

But few of my friends are there in Chennai.

^^ Thanks for your support mate. Much appreciated. Please feel free to leave an SMS at 9840613069 and I will get back to you if I need more donors. As of now, there are 7 donors available for this cause. I am not sure whether more are required or not. If needed, I am sure Apollo Hospitals and myself will once again, call upon the awesome TE junta :D.

And thanks to all of the members of TE who took time out to view this thread and/or respond. Without your support and concern, this simply wouldn't have been possible. I would really like to express my sincere gratitude to our fellow TE-ian Megamind who arrived in Chennai only this morning and was at the hospital in the afternoon! Such is the level of concern and compassion displayed by the awesome TE folk! Many thanks mate :hug:

Note to friendly mods and fellow TE-ians: Do you think it's a good idea to have a thread dedicated to blood donors on TE? We could have people put up their blood groups and locations and contact info in the thread, so that when needed other people can contact them in their hour of need. I personally don't mind creating a new thread to seek help in such a case, but god forbid if there is an immediate need, then someone might need the information as quickly as possible. What do you think? Shall we create a thread like that and maybe sticky it? In the General Talk section?

This is a great idea, if its not too much trouble could you please start off the thread with the kind of info that would be helpful to someone in need ? Then we will make it a sticky.
 
The idea of opening a thread with blood donors information is really a good idea but on a side note, will it be a good idea to display our contact numbers directly in the thread which can become a breeding ground for spammers who will have easy access to the phone numbers. May be just the TE name, blood group and location should suffice and people can contact the member using TE or requesting in that thread that if anyone else is having the phone number of concerned member then please let the needy person know. Something on those lines.
 
Hey Sourav, glad to see that you got help you need. Wishing your Dad a quick return to pink of health.

It's a good Idea to have blood donors thread. It should comprise Donor ID, Blood Group & Location. Needy person contact them and/Or post his/her tel no. in thread with requirement.

I think people with more than 100 posts should be able to view those numbers and people who wish to contact can do so :)
 
^ no mate i prefer raksrules idea, giving our phone numbers on the forum won't be a good idea, better let the people reach us via PM
 
Well you can have the option of putting that up if you want to and if you dont want then leave the field blank ! Just a suggestion !
 
Just have the location, and needy people can contact for the phone number / other details.

Any A-ve or A1-ve donors in Chennai? Apollo needs 3-4 units of blood by tomorrow :(. Indian Blood Donors website isn't of much use. Every number on that site is either not working or the people never answer any calls.
 
Hope ur dad get well soon. I do not have the required blood group nor i m in chennai. So i can only pray for ur dad'a recovery and hope that u will get the donors asap. Thank u guys for helping our fellow member.
