Its regarding my Samsung SH-S223F/IDBH 22X DVD Writer

Its 7-8 months old and was running fine till march end, then i noticed writing a SL DVD takes almost 25-30 mins irrespective of the burning speed selection on Nero Burning ROM software... which was previously take very little time may be around 4-5 mins i think. I dont really know what changes i made before this kinda problem started. Though CD writing takes normal time, only DVD burning takes so much time.

Now recently i got a DVD Video (DVD-9) but after inserting, it doesn't even detect it after a very long time Drive LED blinking, at first i thought the DVD is corrupted so tried to play it on a DVD Player, and it was running fine, then I also tried some other DVD Videos including some Dual Layer DVDs and all of them were running fine. Dont know what is the issue with this particular DVD.

I need to run this DVD asap. what should i do, please help.

is it gone kaput???

thanks in advance

thx sidhu, yes its works in PIO mode, but what is the difference in PIO and DMA mode? how does it affects the writing and reading the Discs? and how do i change it to DMA from PIO mode...

also the page u requested to visit a bit complex... any other quick fix there to solve this problem will be better...

thx again sidhu

Short for Programmed Input/Output, there r 5 PIO modes ranging from 3.3mbps to 16mbps. It was oldest method of transferring data, thats why slow.

There r many causes for why device go back to PIO when it should be DMA.

Go here -http://winhlp.com/tools/resetdma.vbs

copy all, paste in notepad, save file as resetdma.vbs and run it, restart PC.

Due to weak lens of DVD writer ...you will have to change DVD writer sooner or later.

(I am assuming that particular DVD disk works on other source)
