wanna buy a laptop on a short notice.

my needs are : web surfing, office apps,Casual Gaming

budget - less than 32k

screen size - less than or equal to 14"

weight : within 2.2 kg ( along with the battery)

brands : any except msi, gateway, zenith

good battery life is a necessity as well as a good graphics solution ( discrete graphics card is optional)

thanks in advance

@edge111hussain
thanks for the info , but i would really like to get my hands on a lightweight laptop preferably without a dvd drive.

Intel CULV proccy is fine, core i3 maybe a bit of overkill for my use since i am upgrading my desktop.

if u can give up on the graphics dept, then a netbook would be your best bet. check out Samsung N128 < 14k (chk review on TE: http://www.techenclave.com/reviews-and-previews/samsung-n128-review-155381.html ),
N140 or the Asus 1005HA ~16-18k.

since u r upgrading your desktop too, the remaining money you save, u can put it for buying some good graphic card or higher component in that price.

Couldn't agree with you more!
Get samsung n140 with atom n280 and 250gb hd. .14k

problem with these netbooks is that they're too low on proccy power and the screen is at 10.1" 1024x600 resolution.

i watch 720p videos regularly and i travel extensively so the small screens of netbook isnt an option for me.

i have read rave reviews of the Asus eee pc 1201 N with dual core Atom 330 with nVidia ION sporting a 12.1" screen.

what do you think about this netbook/laptop?

Asus 1201N isn't available in India. And there's no CULV laptop within 32k. The cheapest option would be Asus UL30 series @ $749.

There are two laptops from dell with CULV under 35k though

@spindoc: why not MSI? check the x340 , looks like a very nice one for just over rs. 20 - 22k :) not sure about "casual gaming" on that though... since you have desktop, its a great option...

14k for n140 with 250 gb atom n280. from where ? . because last time i checked it 16.5 + for this spec n140, the older n140 is going cheaper is with 160 gb, atom n270, and too 15 + and with discounts and all it comes to 15 now

$749 is way above my budget.
do you know the price details of the acer Acer Aspire 1410?

i have come to the conclusion that CULV is the way to go-
better proccy, good battery life, lightweight
only downside is the low graphics processing capacity.
since i am not into hard core gaming and want to watch videos at native resolution, i can live with the choices.

so any bright ideas about a cheap CULV laptop?
Acer Aspire 1410 is being quoted at $419, thats well within my budget.laptop prices

any bright ideas?

@ culv, the lenovo one is for 29k.. the build quality is way better then the timelines.. in cheaper options the msi x340 is there but the build quality dint appeal to me. Also Hp with a neo 40 proc, 12 inch costs ard the 29k mark... The lenovo model is available at all cromas

Hope this helps..

which lenovo CULV are u referring to?
is it any good?

i quiet liked it. Im sorry i dont know the exact model no but croma is marketing only 3 culv's, the msi x340, the acer timeline and the lenovo one. Silver color build and very sturdy. Y dont you drop in @ one of the croma's around you.

I think it was the lenovo ideapad U350.and U450. not 100% sure...

@edge111hussain

currently there is no croma in the city that i am in.

can anybody tell me the prices pf lenovo ideapad 350 in india?

it is probably the u350.. but d specs of 350 are 450 r quiet different.. the proc on the 350 is slower then the msi x340.. so so...

Anyways its around 29k..

any idea how good acer aspire 1410 is?

the specs seem alright and its pretty cheap too.
