thks for the reply but i have to go with assembled one... anybody else?

mostly i need advice for the processor & the mobo... other things i can still figure out myself...

You could go for something based on Atom i guess.
This is above your budget, but something similar assembled should be within your budget

This itself is 17K and OP wants a monitor too within his budget. The configuration has to be something lesser to make up for all the components in that price range.

that is 17K w/o XP and 19k with XP, including a 17inch monitor, so a similar config is assembled should cost less than his budget as he only has to upgrade the HDD, and Dell's are anyways overpriced compared to assembled

Kingston 1gb DDR 2 Ram (Rs 1300)

Samsung DVD Writer (Rs 1050)

Hard Drive 320gb Seagate (Rs 1800)

Mouse + Keyboard (Rs 650)

VIP Cabinet + SMPS (Rs 1400)

Monitor 19'' WS (Dell,Benq,Samsung) (Rs 6000/6500 Approx)

Total All price are from Prime Abgb (Lamington Road)

Rs 18,950

I can go up one more grand making it to 20,000 max... anything here that i should change... btw can someone tell me if the onboard card on the mobo is good enough.. there will be no gaming on this pc.. just normal office work..

Yup HD4200 card is good enough even for playing older titles at lowered resolutions. The IGP is more than enough for office use. One suggestion is get a decent entry level PSU like the FSP SAGAII 350w ~ 1.5k. It will improve the stability of the rig. Never trust those el cheapo PSU's that comes with the cabbies unless you are on shoe string budget.
