Hello,

I am upgrading my system with i7 4790 within this week.Replacing AMD with Intel.

My Budget:45K maximum only.

Existing hardware configuration

CPU - AMD Phenom 965 Black Edition
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H
GPU - Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 ti 1 GB
RAM - 4GBx3 Corsair 1333 + 4GB Transcend 1333
Monitor - Samsung Syncmaster 2233
PSU - Corsair 650TX
Cabinet - Zebronics
HDD -1TB

Which hardware will you be keeping ?

GPU - Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 ti 1 GB
Monitor - Samsung Syncmaster 2233
PSU - Corsair 650TX
Cabinet - Zebronics
HDD -1TB

Which hardware component are you looking to buy?

CPU:Intel i7 4790
Motherboard -Asus Z97 k
RAM:Corsair Vengeance 8GB X 2 1600mhz

Main Use:
3D Modeling and Sculpting and rendering etc.
Software using:Maya,ZBrush,MAX,Photshop etc .
And sometimes games I'm not a hardcore gamer.

My few queries:
1.PSU - Corsair 650TX-Can I use same PSU for this new change?
2.Motherboard -Asus Z97 k-Is it good for new change or shall I go for ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 2 Motherboards.Or any other ASUS MOB within this budget(ASUS only).
3.RAM:Corsair Vengeance 8GB X 2 1600mhz : Is it ok?

Please help me I am going to change this within this week.

Thanks.

Why do you want a Z97 motherboard for a NON-K processor?!?

Buy any ASUS H97 motherboard.

bssunil:Thanks for reply and config.
Napsterv:Thanks for reply.Frankly speaking don't know to much about technical thing.Just computer dealer given me that config reg. mob.

But still want to know my current PSU Corsair 650TX is good enough to handle new config?

Thanks.

650TX is more than enough, i've run beefier systems on my VX450. Infact your build will be drawing lesser power than the AMD config you had before.
Z series is a waste for a non k proccy, get a cheaper board as someone already suggested. If you plan to overclock in the future get a k series proccy and z board but this config is good enough for the tasks you specified.

Just one question. What kind off SSD(250GB) would be the better option for this config?
If it is very useful for my config I will increase my budget.

Thanks.

psyph3r:Again thanks for reply.
PRO - Around Rs,13,500
EVO-Around Rs,9100

If performance are same for both? Then I will go for EVO,if have more major difference then PRO?

Thanks.

But the 840 is faster and has a proven track record for reliability, definitely worth the extra 1.5k for peace of mind.
The MX100 is good value no doubt but it's a relatively newer product plus i'm not sure about ASS in India.

Performance wise, I get the impression that the 2 drives are pretty much in the same league. The Marvell controller + IMFT NAND combo has been tried and tested since the Crucial M4 days, so reliability shouldn't be a concern. Plus the MX100 has capacitors for power backup to flush the cache in case of power cuts; the Evo does not have this. Both the Evo and the MX100 are more about better value per GB, and considering TLC is cheaper than MLC to manufacture, it's hard to justify the extra cost for the 840 Evo.

I don't recommend these ssdboss, gpuboss, xyzboss sites - very questionable benchmarks. I'm seeing a completely different picture on Anandtech's bench comparison : http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1221?vs=965

Edit: Just to clarify - I'm not saying one drive performs significantly faster than the other; I feel they both offer similar performance and you would find it very hard to notice the difference between them. But IMHO the MX100 offers more consistent performance, whereas the 840 Evo uses tricks like SLC cacheing to boost its short-term performance. This actually drops reliability considering there are no power backup capacitors to flush the caches in case of any failure. Considering the OP will be spending hours rendering 3D models.. I think he would prefer the extra reliability.

It isn't surprising when you take into account the vagueness of the benchmarks on these xyzboss sites. SSDs these days are designed around benchmarks, so understanding the benchmark process is essential.
Unfortunately only Anandtech seems to have run more in-depth tests like below to dissect some of the short term speed boosts :

Anyway, no argument intended, since I did not recommend the MX100 because it was a performance blazer, but because of the higher lifespan MLC :)

Lol no i didn't take it as an argument, this is a tech site to discuss stuff like this.
That's that then, mx100 it is, OP wouldn't care for the minor differences anyway plus the money saved can be invested elsewhere.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for reply.
Brought i7 4790 and ASUS H97 Pro.Paid Rs29,000.

As ASUS H97 supports 1333/1600 MHZ .I already have 1333MHZ 4x4 RAM so I don't want to update RAM.

But one problem arrive:
My RAM config:
Slot 1
2 Corsair RAM is corsair vengeance LP 1333mhz ddr3 cml8gx3m2a1333c9
Slot2
1 Corsair RAM is also 1333mhz cmv4gx3m1a1333c9 4GB
1 is Transcend ram with 1333mhz JM 1333 KLN-4GB

Is it good to keep these ram or I need to change,I heard,I will not get proper speed etc. with such RAM config?I have to put same frequency RAM on all 4 slot?

What to do?shall I go for 2 Corsair RAM is corsair vengeance LP 1333mhz ddr3 cml8gx3m2a1333c9..but It think its outdated. If it is available, where?

Or I sell all 4 RAM and buy New 8x8 Ram 1600MHz?

Please help me with this point.

Thanks.
