yup, he's a gem :P

well done lewis

but to be fair to alonso, he's in the same boat as kimi :D

lol :) was just posting a good and wise reply and suddenly saw that i could not reply :bleh: Anyways, good work QF ;) and yeah Lewis Hamilton!!! What a performance!!! The junior guys in the ferrari team and the car itself looks like struggling all the weekend and looks all setup to struggle tomorrow also :( :( :( .:@ :@ :@ :@ :@ Ferrari, Ferrari come back roarin

There is a distinct difference in their racing styles as Steve Slater mentioned. Alonso's a lot more aggressive(literally banging the curves), while Hamilton is a lot calmer and cooler(being able to push the car within inches of the barrier). I think the pressure of being World champ is really getting to Alonso.

I dont think being a world champ should be actually a pressure for Alonso.I mean they are there to soak that pressure and they certainly will. I mean it was never a pressure for Schumi. U know who am talking about right :rofl:

Actually its not a problem. Its just a case of a driver who can put accurate fast lap, laps after laps without making a single mistake.

Car can only go this much fast. So if Hamilton does not make any mistakes and forces Alonso to drive more aggressively and in the end that pushes Alonso to make a mistake, he is not gonna catch Hamilton ;)

Its this pressure of for the first time trying to outdo his teammate is what getting to Alonso :P

No offense to his Renault teammate fisichella, but he was Alonso's own pony. Clearly No2 driver in the team there to support him all the way no matter what Renault said officially. He was simply not as good as Alonso.

Hamilton is a rookie in F1, but he is not a rookie racing driver. He has driven on these circuits all his racing career.

its not the pressure of being the world champ...its the pressure of settling into a new team. its the pressure of getting accustomed to a new car within a limited period. its the pressure of proving yourself once all over again infront of your new team mate...and that's what is getting to alonso.

Well so Rookie does it again...!!

1) Hamilton
2) Alonso +1.5s
3) Massa +11.3s
4) Kimi +2.5s

Well didnt see the race live..but monitored every lap times... And i must say Kimi was real awesome in mid sector and even at the end..!! he screwed up on the first lap i guess.!! i dont know what happened after 2nd pitstop...on timing screen i thought he could hv passed Massa ... but he didnt..

anyways.... there was solid fight between Mclarens in the middle stint (one instance where both were side by side).. and towards the end it was Ferrari's... Well dunno but looks like it was a decent race..!!

Kimi was awesome ?? you gotta be kidding me !!

He seems to have forgotten how to race. He could not overtake Heikki Kovalainen !! And Nico Rosberg !! what the hell was he doing ??

ut when the track ahead of him was empty, he was flying. But that is no big deal. He lost too much time behind Rosberg and Heikki.

And what does he do at the start ?? Be a gentleman letting everyone go by before deciding to start ??

Massa was decent.

Hamilton was superb though !! I honestly cant use enough adjective and superlatives to describe him.

Alonso drove well too.... but he was no match for his teammate...

Hamilton is suddenly in a different league....

^^^
may be... coz i didnt see the race..

but still he was in 1:13s in all middle stint.. wheres Rest of pack including Top Runners...were in 1:14s

plus if only he did this kind of driving regularly, he'd win some... Doing the fastest lap with the harder compound tyres takes some doing..

yea he seems to have lost some aggression..but thats because he's not winning...and so hes under pressure..!!

don think i'm trying to defend kimi here but its nearly impossible to follow and then pass a car this year when both the cars are equally matched on straight line speeds. he had absolutely no chance of overtaking nico or heikki. if it had been any other driver - massa, alonso or lewis - they'd have failed as well.

losing track position during the start, however, was entirely his fault. no excuse in the world cud make up for that. and this isn't the first time that he has lost two or more places at start. the best bet is that he's still unable to work out all the controls on his steering wheel.

alonso, massa, kimi - each of em did the best they cud. lewis was a stand out performance. he's already a star and he's gonna get bigger from now on. three cheers for hamilton and mclaren again!! :D

PS: afaik, kimi was on softer compounds when he did that fastest lap and he surely was flying in the last part of the race.

^^^
I cant be absolutely sure ;)

Commentator(or whoever types) might have been confused ;)

yeah he started on Harder then softer then harder again..!! yup might be..

btw shouldnt we create a new topic for F1 related discussions.... coz i guess we all are passed to "Whiny cry baby" thing :bleh:

Actually i find it inexcusable not to adjust to a new car. Specially after 7 races and that too driver like Kimi who is paid premium salary to join Ferrari. He god to get his head down and practice that much more during the testing periods.

He has made mistakes in 4 races now at start. In Monaco he made mistake during qualification. Thats simply not acceptable at this stage. Even Alonso made mistakes but not as many as Kimi has made and he too is in a new team and so is the Hamilton who is rookie.

He got to deliver more.

Race was awesome. Specially the tug race between Alonso and Hamilton and the way hamilton did not budge even when Alonso tried to go past him with overaggressive driving, the guy simply made no mistake and defended his position when he had to for 1 lap and then again pulled away. Simply shows how cool head he has on his shoulders.

Right Said!!! And supposedly Kimi was the one who was supposed to fill in Michael's shoes and earn more points for the team than Massa. Anyways, the car itself looked very much off league compared to Mclaren. Ferrari gotto put these drivers in a better and competitive car. Though Kimi more than made up for his mistake by climbing up after the dud start, I feel he is not stepping upto the levels he should. For that matter, even the whiny crybaby is in a new car and a new team. He is performing much better than Kimi. I feel all the three, i.e. Ferrari, Kimi and Massa, well, Massa not to such an extent but yeah, they certainly should up their level.

There's nothing Massa and Kimi could do unless Ferrari comes up with a more competitive car. The current one is lacking in both aerodynamic efficiency and straight line speeds. It becomes unstable while chasing a car in front and as a result, overtaking becomes almost impossible. The limited testing opportunities this season is also hurting Ferrari. They've got a lot of ground to make up. McLaren are really looking fast, strong and reliable this year.

As for Kimi, I don't know what to say about his performance so far. I'm a Kimi fan in a big way and all I can say is that I'm disappointed. We have criticized him for being slow of the starting line but if you think of it, he started from the dirty side of the race track in most of the races. Even in yesterday's race, he started from the wrong side with a heavier tank and hard tyres. Considering that, he did a pretty good job but we are not impressed because we only want to see him winning and anything less isn't enough to please us.

I wish for all Kimi fans and for all Ferrari fans that he comes back to form from the next GP itself. Kimi in form is a treat to watch. :D

Yes, Kimi has potential and when he is in form, he can be unbeatable.

But as Funky said, he is being paid 50 million $. He better get used to the car. It is not an excuse.

And yeah, the Ferraris are lacking in pace. But I stil lthink they can get back to winning ways. Am an eternal optimist :D

PS: Can a mod make a new thread titled "2007 US GP" and move all these posts there ??
