^ whats the price of those modems.
Also do these modems get hot after using for a long period of time, and how much warranty do they comes with??

any reviews form the TE members, anyone using usb modem please throw some light on this topic.

1.The huawei UMG1831 costs around 2.8-3k.

2.i have one and it gets very hot during extended use but dont worry nothing happens to modem even after running it 24x7 for many months.

3.They come with 6 months or 1 year sellers warranty.

I too use UMG1831 (21Mbps), as mentioned by RS4 it gets quite hot after sometime, but haven't seen any bad side affect of it.

^ isn't that modem launched in india? Some ebay seller claims so, and why there is a variation of warranty period :S

All the USB 3G modems sold on ebay,TE etc dont have any manufacturers warranty as they are imported from china and you get only a seller warranty which varies from seller to seller.

If you want warranty go check Huawei E173 from a reliance digital store, make sure to see whether they have added any new modems for sale

Do we really get these 7.2 mbps and 21 mbps speeds via current 3G networks? Even if I get 3.6 mbps I'll be more than happy.

I have one question. If my 3G network gives me, say 2mbps speed typically ,then would it make any difference whether I have 3.6/7.2/21 mbps modem? - no rt?

Depends on your network and location, i always get 6-6.5Mbps with BSNL and 7-8Mbps with Docomo, people with reliance 3G are getting above 10Mbps.
