@varkey , the amber update works on 822?
i mean no locking operator or disabling of data as it occurred earlier?

Its working fine for me - Data, SMS, everything!

SMS issue is fixed in the Amber update. Just finished updating and everything is working great. FM also got enabled.

I had downgraded to the initial version, now I just auto update to the latest version and everything will work?!

@varkey can this phone be made use as a WiFi hotspot with the respective mobile data operator? Cos all descriptions only mention WiFi Direct!

Reviving an old thread. Was planning to get this phone just wanted to check if the sms and data issues are resolved now. Also, are there any other Verizon 4G LTE phones which are GSM unlocked?

Yes, sms problem is solved with last update few months back...
Every Verizon phone release after mid of 2012 is sim unlocked
