Shame on this blogger...

Not that what this guy did is unique as I spot at least 1 moron on average each day doing the same (as far as using the cellphone on a bike bit goes)....

But this guy goes one step ahead and posts a smug blog posting about his feat....

Though I wonder if this is a chennai only phenomenon or if this can be seen in other big cities too...

People talking on a cellphone while driving a bike on a main thoroughfare :O

Using a cell while driving a car can be somewhat dangerous but the associated risk goes up at least 10X on a 2 wheeler and is downright inexcusable ///

Not only is the rider putting self at risk , but also poses great danger to others around him...
:@

sad..

if ppl cld jus pull over to the side and spare a few mins. to talk on their cellphone(like i always do)..things would be a whole lot better for us,other motorists & the cops!!!

guilty :ashamed:

though, i use it in hands free mode when riding :ashamed:

Edit:

Not ur typical handsfree though.. :ohyeah:

i was going in my scooty at 5kmph ..no kidding and was talking on the fone...and i was stopped by 2 rowdies ...no kidding 2 local rowdies and given a lecture to for 15 mins ...i think i dont carry a phone after that :P

 mask even that handsfree mode is dangerous.

Heck why do you have to talk while driving. Evens if its on a bluetooth headset, your attention gets divided. You may not be able to respond to a situation as quickly and end up split open.

For a sec there i thought u might actually be cheering this guy on..

glad to see that isn't the case.

I was looking forward to getting a bike when i got here i changed mind after a few ppl in the medical community discouraged me about it.

It isnt safe with all ur wits about you let alone talking on a phone, that's just asking for trouble on western roads n/m what passes for it over here!!

Lolz.. Good one... But turning either side while on the fone's a li'l dangerous; :ashamed:

Hehe masky thats a neat idea :D

anyways i never pick up calls while riding or driving, always call back :)

i have seen several people driving cars and talking on phone and moving at 2kmph even when light is green, or slowly moving towards you when are you overtaking them, and police does nothing about it well their driving/riding habit are worst lol

what i find dangeorous is people wearing SE IEM type earphones while riding bikes :S

whats wrong with that ?
i listen to music using my ep630's whenever im riding my bike , and i do drive carefully. Bangalore traffic is so bad that i cant do ~70-80 anymore on my regular commuting roads. :@

Driving or riding while talking on a cellphone is proof that people need a little danger in their lives, so I think truckers and bus drivers should join the party to raise the stakes :P

Agree 100%. The vehicle horns are so loud and so many that you can't tell them apart untill its too late anyway.

i cant even walk alongside a road while wearing the EP 630's. I feel seriously disoriented, and an eery feeling that a KSRTC super fast is just behind me , and I cant hear it. I dont even answer calls when I'm driving , and usually keep my stereo very low to hear the traffic. maybe the traffic where i drive isnt that noisy...

I hate those folks who close all the windows and put on the AC, stereo at full blast, and ignore the horns and indicators of those around them. the least i can do is drive with some consideration to those around me....

^yup agree with you 100%

even worse is those who are busy watching himesh reshamiya on their 7inch tvs :bleh:

Yup, even listening to MP3 while driving bike is something noone should do. I cant even stand loud stereo while driving a car.

Listening to stereo in car is different. When you use earphones, your entire auditory awareness is gone. The earphone blocks almost every other noise. And mind you, loud traffic noise is still no excuse. It gives you awareness of whats surrounding you. And just vision is not enough. Some basic reflexes that can sometimes save your or someone else's life are blocked bcoz of auditory numbness when you listen to music on earphones.

Its your life in the end, but keep in mind you are putting lots of innocent people surrounding you at risk as well.

Hmm me as well guilty. However I couldn't really help myself:

1. Have a sleek smart phone (HTC S620). Hence its kept in backsack. Cant keep in pants (fearing that I may break it).

2. Have a DS220 plugged into my ear, bluetoothed to the smart phone in backsack.

3. While driving I prefer to listen song at about 50-60% volume, drowns the traffic noise but not totally. hence can hear honks. Keeps me at peace. Mine driving habbit: 55-60kmph. Dont try overtaking unless I have to slow down below 40.

4. I hardly receive a call, but whenever receive I will tell them that I will call back and thats where it stops. No talk beyond 10 secs.

Hope mine is not that offending.
