I've installed uTorrent on my laptop.... Its connected to AIRTEL DSL 256kbps... the problem is when uTorrent is running I cannot open any webpage in any browser... All of them give me page not found error...

Sometimes webpage loads but takes ~4-5 minutes..... If I close uTorrent then I can surf with no problem..... Also my torrent speeds are good ~29-30Kbps so I don't think there is a connection problem...

When I connect the net with my desktop which has Azureus there is no problem surfing while runing it.....

What needs to be done......

Well yeah this happens wid me also..!!...it blocks all our bandwidth....well what u can try is....is Reduce ur Bandwidth Allocation to LOW...right clickin the torrent...

For me even that doesnt helps..!! to wen i am desp need to fast browsing..i just stop my torrents...:|

If u are saying that utorrent grabs bandwidth even when no torrent is open, then its weird.

But what u mean most probably is it grabs all bandwidth when u r downloading on torrents. Solution in my opinion is to limit ur global bandwidth to utorrent. Goto options>preferences>downloads and set ur bandwidth allocation depending upon ur surfing requirements. U can also use scheduler for same.

ohh naa...in my case this happens..only wen i am downloading something.. ;) .....

I get a AVERAGE of ~22-24 in utorrent. Anyone else faces this problem?? Any solutions?? And yeah the bandwidth is taken up by it but you can manually allocate some bandwidth to utorrent so the rest can be used for other things.

uTorrent acts like a gateway....when it is not downloading anuything it acts as peer/gateway for others....all u need to do is to juggle the values of the Upload/Download setting to get the max out of ur uTorrent. In my case i have set it to (12kbps/sec Download --- 2 Kbps/sec Upload) bracket [by the way this ration is prefixed by uTorrent].............

@ Debabratad

thats a horrible upload limit you'v put man! give back what you take.. atleast upload at the same speeds/

@Ambar

the problem is there only in utorrent for me. bitcomet o so is fine (~29-30)

The problem is even if I set the global download to as low as 15 KBps I can't surf .. I will have to close uTorrent to be able to surf .... But in Azureus on my desktop withthe same 256kbps connection I can surf & download torrent as well & there I have a global download set @30 KBps......
Is there a plugin or setting I am missing in uTorrent.....

I found another thing.... If I run my laptop for more than 25-30 mins then I can surf & download torrent with uTorrent withoout problem..... Even If I set the total download limit to 50KBps..... it lets me surf & download torrent....

So I guess there must be a problem with the current version....:S :S :S

If u are using xp32bit then make sure you have applied the SP2 half-open connection limit patch and that it is set to atleast 80.

Still uTorrent is hijacking the bandwidth.... I am unable to surf while downloading with uTorrent.... I even updated to v.1.6.1...

What else needed to be done...

i use netlimiter 2.0 .. it has a bandwidth grant option :)

full speed browsing even while heavy downloads running !

I reduced the half open connections to 6 from 8 & now I can surf with uTorrent though not as fast as I do with Azureus in my desktop..... anyway... there is slight drop in download speed in uTorrent but it is accepted since I can surf while downloading.....
Thanxxxx for helping me out.......:)

Try cFosSpeed. Amazing piece of software. Was recommended by one user abt 1 yr back and since then it has become an itegral part of my system

It will take about a week to get fully caliberated for ur line n then it will start working as a charm!!! :hap2:
