Seems Like they need to get those clocks high as soon as possible to Get that performance crown back..atleast By NOV because Intel has Something ready for Launch..

I don't think they are aiming for Performance crown now....
They are taking on intel with their low prices .. from what i have read till now IMHO Amd has better VFM.

But let's see how things shape up and how the Server Market responds to AMD :)

AMD wont loose any market share in the Server-level cpus..

its basically the Desktop cpus tht are lagging behind severely.

in the server level segment, amd had always rocked :P

so hopefully they wont go bankrupt anytime soon :)

Im really not sure when you say AMD has always rocked the server segment!! Opteron only changed it for AMD and really it hasnt been that long!!

The L3 cache clocking scheme imposes a penalty on the performance from what I see.Maybe with a better clocked L3 and a non-registered memory module phenom should be able to do well, lets hope for the best, if not for AMD we would have still been with netburst :ohyeah: :ohyeah:

And also the most important metric in the server mkt right now is performance per watt, as these systems are running 24/7 AMD scores brilliantly there, in the desktop though its gonna be an uphill task.
