Very Important to Note

Isn't it true that we all carry our mobile phones with hundreds Of names/numbers stored in its memory but yet nobody, other than Ourselves, know which of these numbers belong to our near and dear ones?
Let us for a moment create a scenario wherein (God forbid) we are Involved in an accident or had a heart attack and the people attending
Us get hold of our mobile phone but don't' know which number to call To inform our family members. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored But which one is the contact person in case of an emergency?

For this reason, we must have one or more telephone numbers Stored under the name ICE (in case of emergency) in our mobile phones.
Read below for more details......

Subject: " ICE" Campaign
Recently, the concept of "ICE" is catching up quickly. It is Simply, an important method of contact during emergency situations.
As cell phones are carried by majority of the population, all you Need to do is store the number of a contact person or person who Should be contacted at during emergency as "ICE" (meaning In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when they Went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones With patients, but they didn't know which number to call.
He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a Nationally recognized name for this purpose.
Following a disaster in London , the East Anglican Ambulance Service Has launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" Campaign.
In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would then be able to quickly contact your next of Kin, by simply dialing the number stored as "ICE".
Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everyBody will know about this.
It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 Etc. A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones

me & almost all my frnds use the nick of dad,mom,honey...etc....its' easy...:)

Exactly. Large population may not want mom or dad as ICE.
Many work out of their home town, in that case someone who can be actually useful in emergency should be your ICE contact. Everyone has mom - dad nos in contacts, thats obvious ;)

got this in email too ....will surely do the needful.

problem is my phonebook is full :(

thanks to the crappy set that i have.

anyways this is a very nice idea and will surely be helpful.

Karan thats why i call you Ice-Man :P

And thanks for sharing this info Funky... Doing it already :D...

Also this gave me a wonderful Idea... Now instead of storing Nicknames of members on my Mobile i will store names like this...

good idea but has its drawbacks:

1.) what if the mobile's stolen or nipped by some1?

2.) i dont think general ppl will dial a number under ice - they might think it is some ice delivery or something like that.

3.) if phone is locked with a pin/ code/ key - ??

4.) no1's going to look for ICE in the first place in a mobile

@6pack... Question to you.... Now that you know about ICE... Will you look for it if you are in such a situation ???

And Obviously... Nobody is telling you to remove Mom/Dad/Wife name from the mobile... This is more like a precautionary measure...

Also if you read the whole thread then you would have realized that this is just the begining... School/College Going peeps can put this up on their college notice boards... You can educate you parents/relatives about the same... I for one will take a printout of the same an will put it on the main door of my store so that people can read the same... Try to be the part of the solution rather then the problem :D...

See guys, i usually ignore all those forwards. But when something is logical then one should accept it.

There are 1000s of ifs and buts to everything. But if something someday can save your @$$ then that outweighs everything else. As simple as that.

I took a printout of this and put it on the office board today :P

I wonder how many people store their father and mother's names instead of Dad/Mom... and for home number what do they put in.. street address ?? :P

Bah! Genius ! :P

I've been doing that since god knows when :P

The ICE campaing was initiated in Britain to generate awareness among the public to follow a common code of reaching out to the most important person/people in case of emergency.

This thread too, is an awareness campaign. Its upto to ppl to debate the pluses and minuses :P but atleast spread the awareness. :D

My friend's friend lost his life in a road accident :( . Someone from among the people who had gathered on the scene took his cellphone and called back on the last dialled number. Thats how we came to know of the incident.

I keep my home number stored as "A Sweet Home". Initially it was sweet home but just to keep it as first number in phone book, I changed it to "A Sweet Home".... :)

This ICE thing is good concept but only if advertised properly by media and if everyone starts using the same code "ICE" it would work...
