Hi Folks,

I am looking to build a very low end system, just for watching TV and .avi movies ( for my room in another city)

i have come up with following (pls dont suggest anything costlier, anything lower/better than below would be welcome)

Prices taken from Deltapage, will buy these from Ritche St, Chennai

SEMPRON AMD 64 LE 1100+ AM2 1425

Gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2 nF6100,V,16x, 6Ch S 2150

1GB DDR2 (anything generic) 700

TV Tuner Internal - any generic - Price ?

Are these prices OK or are they avbl below this price

Any other MB with DDR2 support & onboard display available cheaper than this

Have a Iball baby cabinet + 80GB HDD already

Cheers

Why Sempron! U can get a 64-bit AthlonX2 4000+ for around Rs.2000 which will be more than enough for ur requiremets.

Any Asus, Gigabyte, Biostar, Foxconn which will be availabe for around Rs.2000 will serve ur puropse.
For Rs.700 u will get 1GB Dynet DDR2667Mhz memory.

TV Tuner External will be useful for u as u r using the PC mainly for watching TV!

Rest of the things u already have.

^^ yes your need better mo i recommed jetway 690 with amd 4000 x/2 combo offer is best

it has 4 ram diim slot can run dual channel also oc is good and it has dvi-sub support

some mo are weaker with only 2 ram diim slot will not work at dual channel

onboard chipest need dvi-sub for watch better hdmi movie

which lcd you use

for ram you need trascend 800 mhz 800 r,s

This isnt the low end segment ;) this is the Ultra low end segment :p

+ i believe the TDP of the celeron is 35watts as compared to that of 45W for the sempron and still beats the sempron in perf. Bought one of these setups for a friend last month :)

I had assembled a similar throw-away config a few months back. Sempron LE-1100 (1600/-) + Jetway M26GT3-SVP (2000/-) + 1GB RAM. Runs surprisingly well...my only regret is that I should have bought an Athlon X2. Even if u say it is a throw-away config, still ur spending money on it...so when u buy, get a decent one.

Check out the Jetway M26GT3-SVP - costs less than ur board, and has 4 RAM slots (8GB) + all the usual stuff. Wud highly recommend u to get Athlon X2 4000+ atleast. But even with sempron ur config is terrific VFM...dont worry :)

dunno abt that...it's similar to sempron but with 1MB L2 cache instead of 256kb

ok...must be similar to what intel is doing with their celeon4xx&Pentium E series...

Thanks dude, I will check
I already got a AMDX2 4000+ on my gaming PC. I will think on AthlonLE
this is actually a movie and TV PC i am planning for, and later, as a download rig if needed.
Jetway M26GT3-SVP - does it board have an on-board display or do i need separate GFX for it

It's got the same chipset as the board u mentioned...NF6100-405. No need of separate GFX card.
