Hello Guys,

I need to build a system for the office.

4GB RAM
E8400 Intel Proc

Which mobo should I go with? Don't need too many frills, but need it to be stable.

Also any good wired keyboards and mouse recommendations? (budget for kb & mouse - 4k)

Still jostling between dell/samsung/benq 24" monitors as well

No budget mentioned?
What sort of work does this computer need to do at the office? Will answer the other queries after you reply.

As for the motherboard, the Gigabyte G31M ES2L @ 2.4k = your best bet.

Nothing mind bending, docs, et al. no gfx processing. But I might need to tag this to two monitors for wider coverage

If you aregoing to use DUAL monitors then Gigabyte G31M ES2L mobo does not support dual display, you will have to go for a cheap graphics card which supports dual monitors (incase you already have a 8400 CPU) or else if you are going for a new setup best is you go for an AMD solution like 740/780/785 G chipset boards just couple it with a Tricore AMD 720 BE and you will have a better solution the an E8400 based intel rig.

+1.
an awesome VFM board,it's the best choice for you.
i'll say keep you eyes closed & get one of those.

Thanks guys, If I get the Gigabyte, would then need a Gfx card. Any mobo that supports dual display with a few GB RAM should do. The G31M seems limited to a max of 4GB and that and the lack of gfx built in is a concern.

tosh, any specific recos on the mobo?

Thanks

I would say sell E8400 then get AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE (Athlon II X4 will be better if you can arrange) with Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H /Biostar TA790GX 128M. Both motherboard support dual display without need of any addon card and far away better then The Intel TE legendary board Gigabyte G31MES2L

People can give you better suggestion regarding currently available AMD boards. Most of them comes with integrated dual display support.
