Video Call Device for Family

My mom does frequent video call to my brother who is in US and also to other relatives. currently she is doing it via phone (OP 5) , I want to set her up a comfortable way to do video call.

Any suggestions would be good.

I thought a tablet/TV + floor stand for tablet with mic setup would be better for a comfortable video call.

Is there a better way to do it ?any office solution ?
A suitable app which could be compatible with android / ios and also on smart tv ? Dont mind going paying for app either.

Honestly, if rest of the family uses Apple, getting an iPad for Facetime will be good option. The clarity is pretty great when compared to WhatsApp/telegram (Instagram has surprisingly good video calling) plus texting will be coherent

My brother uses apple , i use android and since i have to take care of her phone , i am keeping it in android territory.
Heard discord video call is really good (according to reddit)

Increasingly I find people using their TV for this purpose. This requires a TV that can do that.

I've found a phone on a simple stand at a table the easiest. You can get fancier but I don't video call that often.

I prefer voice as that way I can sit on a sofa, do other things or even lie in bed. Having a camera isn't necessary all the time.

I dont mind spending , since this is the only one which connects us to my brother..

Have a VU tv (non-smart) in hall and a hisense(smart) in Mom room

I am thinking of a setup which could be carried to either of these tv and used within minutes.

You don't need any high tech items or even any expensive ones apart from maybe a webcam which might be a worthwhile investment to make it seamless... Just install meet or cast it to your TV.. I use Microsoft teams in office for past few years and it is amazing... Dont believe all the marketing hype crap around facetime or other fancy names... You can simply do a Google search with in depth reviews and I am sure 5 other apps will give you a better bitrate in audio and video compared to apple plus most can run across devices

for mic ?

suggest a webcam which will be compatible with the Tv setup .

Coming in late, we use the latest Chromecast (the white one with a remote) and a usb hub. To do this. Only supports Google meet. I've tried both Logitech and Lenovo fhd webcams. Anything that is uvc compliant should work
