PC Peripherals Video format with Amkette Flash TV

Guys,

I just got this TV player for BPL 29" CRT. Its for basic movie watching for my parents, nothing extravagant

When i tried few video files, some of them says " Not supported" and some plays (albiet at HD resolution) so i can see big black bars at top and bottom

None of the mp4 files played, its advertised to run those
Some .avi files didnt play, some played

I want to know, what video resolution / codec / bitrate to chose, to play on 4:3 CRT

use dvd resolution of 720x480 and divx 5/6 @ around 1500 bitrate for video and 128Kb cbr stereo for audio. This resolution is supported in normal dvd players too. You will get bars at the top and bottom, but aspect ratio and quality will be good.

If you do not want bars, you will need to make it 800x600 or 640x480 resolution. Aspect ratio will change for dvd movies and they will look stretched and ugly. Crt has max resolution of 800x600 I think.

1. why does the 'FAST FWD' funtion not work for some clips?

2. In your PHOTOS funtion why didnt you keep the 'folder' option which would have been more convenient to view instead of showing all the images randomly?

3. I was watching an AVI movie which worked fine on VLC player on my laptop but on flash tv, it ran for about 50 mins and then stopped and sometimes skipped to the next movie, why?(i'm aware that if the specific avi codecs are not supported then it'll not play bit then the movie must have not started in the firdst place)

4. Some of the files are rmvb or avi but still FLASH TV says that FORMAT NOT SUPPORTED?(is it because of the codecs?)

5. You have kept the zoom option for photos, but you should have kept a 'ZOOM LOCK' option as for e.g when we run slide show the photos that slide should've been locked in that zoom size only, now for each photo i have to zoom it as the slides move on.

6. THe device is completly dependent on the remote, there should've been atleast a 'scroll. play, stop' button on the device.

7. Will the device be affected if there are viruses in the file?

8. Why didnt you support, H.264/mkv files?

9. Does the size of the portable HDD we attach have to do anything with the performance of the FLASH TV, i.e if i attach a 2 tb device to FLASH TV will it perform normal?

regards?
