people shud differentiate between skilled jobs and unskilled jobs...unskilled jobs r for masses...and locals shud b preffered over migrants....for skilled jobs....one who has merit shud b preferred irrespective of his birth place/language...

there is a good reason why places in NE like Assam r burning...
 
See i do not agree with his ways of violence you are right the same thing could happen to marathis in other states but he has the right agenda that local people are getting a second treatment at the expense of crowds coming from UP and Bihar who is to blame?Well probably the same politicians like Laloo who probably must be in jail for eating fodder worth 600 crores and now he shouting in parliament well he is the one responsible for it also a guy like Amar Singh who doesn't have even his own identity and goes to page 3 parties to keep himself in papers . His ways are wrong but his agenda is correct. Also i don't expect so much one sided thing here India is a free country remember.Or you want a dictatorship or theocracy?

So People from the other states have the right to come and take jobs anywhere in india..If the person employing them is happy, then why not??

Employer is the guy giving monye and its his preference..

As an example, tell me if you are building a house, adn one local contractor is willing to do it in 50 lacs, while if you bring the villagers of you town provide tham all amenities and still if you're able to get the job in 30lacs wont you get it done by them??

Its as simple as that..

Americans outsourced jobs to india..Why werent you people crying that americans will be left without opportunities and what will happen to them...I personally know many maharashtrian friends who are now at a respectable post and have donw so much for their community, just cause of those jobs..

Its a competitive world, you cant enjoy cause of other's misery at the same time complain when the same damn thing hits you hard..Its senseless and shamefull to see fellow maharashtrians behaving like this..:( On one side i have fellow maharashtrians who have worked soo hard and can compete with any damn person in the world , other side people like raj thakeray who are bringing to waste everything that these people did for the upliftment of their community..

say i have a factory with workers demanding hike in their pays and r threatening a strike....and i fire them and get new set of workers who work for less....what will b reactions of my original workers...

And yes, those who want reservations, know this, reservation is not for upliftment of your community, its for permanently handicapping you..Its a cruel joke played by the politicians to make you dependent on them..

You might enjoy good colleges for now, but you wont be able to survive in the competitive world..

Just like what happened in Bengal, same thing WILL happen to mumbai if these people will continue..Ratan Tata saw that the compromise would effect his profit margins significantly, and thus moved the project frm there..

If the people/ employers find that there's no profit to be had, they will leave that place..Even your fellow maharashtrian employers will leave once there's nothing to be earned or if they loose out the competitiveness..

There's no way around it..compete or perish..another solution is just a bluff by the politicians..

Ya people can other states can come here and take jobs but they should not dominate us we have the Gujarati and South Indians working here never did they create such ruckus or menace to the local people you tell me why are the people from North unwanted everywhere they were kicked out from Assam even Gujarat threw them out.And all their politicians are now shouting at the top of their voice :@ :@ .Also nobody did anything for marathi community these people in high jobs give a sh*t with what happens on man on the street they only care that their pocket is full.Only people who did something for uplifment of Marathi people was Shiv Sena and now Raj Thackeray.

What you are talking abt is a different matter. Yet again, if other are doing the work, same quality at same pay, then its a fair wage according to the market..And so the workers demand is not justified..And the owner is justified in his decision.

What the reaction of the employees will be:-
1) Act offensive, try to harm the employer--in which case the police will lock them up.
2) Harm new employees:- police again.
3)Adjust work hard and earn the increment:- the employer will happily give them an increment. If he doesnt, they can find work at other place, work hard and earn that increment at some other place..in such a case, the employer will be at a loss not the employee..:) cause the employer will be loosing good workers..
 
MODS - Please keep an eye on this thread. I'd recommend closing it as its becoming too political for this technology forum. Guys, everyone has a right to their own opinion. Somehow this thread has started with expressing one's opinion but now has moved to belittling others opinions at any cost.

IMHO - The cause may be right or wrong, the means were not. Doesn't the principles of a someone named M K Gandhi mean anything anymore?

@ragsbava and Sumant :- While they may have done some good, what they are trying to do now is to make you dependent on them..nothing else..Try and understand from the employer's point of view because he is the decision maker not us..

If the PROFIT part of the equation doesnt suite him they WILL leave your state and you will be the one who'l suffer the loss..Just think if companies will leave the state cause of such action, where will we find employment?

Even if we get together, and start a business and pay higher salaries than what other businesses will give, who wil buy our product?? Or will you stay with out profit and at the same place inspite of working so hard and distribute all the profit to the workers..?

The point of labour exploitation is there everywhere in india..that is why we have such strict labour laws..If the people fight for a just thing like exploitation, then there is no problem at all..But people will fight just because they have to compete and work hard, is it justified??
 
Why does someone have to stop people from other states giving examinations. I am sure Marathi people are every bit as competent as people from other states and can match the IQ and prowess of others. Then why this lack of confidence in their ability. Are they(marathi) not competent? Are they less skillful? Then why do they need reservations and illegal/lawless support to reach anywhere?

They don't need any reservations what they need is a impartial treatment who said anything of reservation what we need is that advertisement of railway board must be placed here in Maharashtra instead of just in North India .
