Hey

Check this link

Vodafone 3G USB Stick: 3G USB Modem - Internet access for laptop & Desktop | Mumbai

There are unlimited plans for 599 in prepaid and postpaid. Also it was mentioned that
"Gets you high-speed connectivity to the internet through the Vodafone EDGE network.
Is easy to install – just plug in and you are ready, no CDs required.
Gives 3G Broadband speeds when you travel abroad."

What does this mean ? i will get only 2G speed ? or will i get 3G speed. Kindly help as i am looking for unlimited connection while roaming.. using tikona and it sucks big time.

Well, it's actually a 3G ready stick, when they will launch 3G you'll get 3G speed but for now you'll end up getting 2G speed.

BTW vodafone already started 3G service, which we are using on mobile, so you may get 3G speeds now....see what other member says...

I got the K3750z USB dongle this week.... but I am really waiting for the Mi-Fi device model R201 so that I can make my whole house 3G+WiFi engulfed! :D

it is basically a unlimited 2g offer. Right now, i guess due to the trial offer on 3g till April, 3g is working with 2g customers also, but eventually, that will be changed and I guess 3g data plans will be quite a bit more expensive than the prices quoted

Also i guess the 3G won't have any unlimited plans as well.. Anyone know the max speed that one get with vodafone 2G ?

@Vishalrao - Can you tell me the max speed you getting on vodafone 2G speed.

Even I am looking forward to this because its damm good VFM Package if its got some good speeds. Currently using Reliance Netconnect + which is serving well with good service and 3.1 MBPS max speed (however of late the speeds have been somewhat inconsistent and also once device heats up they are no good :( ) but not happy with the overall cost involved........Paying 950 a month for 3GB Plan so very costly and also the modem was for 2500 Then...........rite now dunno abt Idea 3G Plan but airtel's plans and modem prices are in one word "RIDICULOUS". However on the site itself its mentioned its 3G Ready and supports 7.2 and device cost is 1600 so please update if any one is using this and hows the performance??

it varies a lot, based on time and location both. Here in Kolkata, during peak hours from my home, i used to get around 10-11 kbytes/sec and 19-23 kbytes/sec after 10-11 in the night. not exactly for downloading, but as far as checkings mails and forumns, go it works pretty well.

waise they offer unlimited here coz they know, that nobody much is going to be able to do downloading on a 2g wireless connection :P

I spoke to their CC and they say that the speeds would be for 3G. I know they are relaying exactly the same thing which is printed on their PC screen. I would rather have someone test this out, as 599 bucks for unlimited 3G seems to be way too far fetched. I might pop into one of their stores and try to get a demo.

3g unlimited for 599 bucks is not at all possible. AFAIK it's 2G unlimited, and since the trial offer going on to try 3G one will get 3G speed till the offer gets over..

Once 3G plans out, then 599 plan revert back to 2G :(

@ sbhas2k - I get about 8 mbps (down) on my Nokia N900 - and the device itself has HSDPA 10 mbps download hardware limitation :D

My new HTC HD7 wp7 phone hardware spec limits downloads to 7 mbps hehe, but haven't tried 3G on it yet (waiting for Airtel on that one)...

@Vishal - What plans do you use from Vodafone ? i guess it's the unlimited plan .. Any idea about what will happen when the 3G tariff announced as i guess you will be back to 2G speed..

I wanna buy one so i could use it with datacard. Thanx

Is that the 590 UL plan?

I came to know from a friend that the 3g Plans will be out after 10th April also there seem to be 2 sticks 1 supporting speeds upto 3.1mpbs and another around 7mbps.

Now this is really confusing the hell out of me, is anyone on this Rs.599/- UL plan and if yes, then what's the download speed you guys are getting?

For those saying we'll be getting 2G speeds, where did you get that information from?

You'll get 3G speed, as 3G Trial is going on and we all are using 3G on 2G plans. But definitely after they implement 3G fully, this plan won't be there.

Now, they wouldnt be mentioning EDGE network and 3g abroad in case they were giving 3g access here right?. Plus when they are offering 1gb for 700 odd bucks on 3g, then it is very very unlikely that they will give unlimited plan cheaper.

As of now, you will be able to access 3g using the 2g recharge, and so it will be unlimited till vodaphone stops this promotional 3g access

This 599 offer on a 3G ready stick is an offer which is quiet old and continues till date. It is nothing but a 2G/EDGE UL plan for 599 rupees and one needs to buy the modem for 1750 rupees (IIRC). Currently since vodafone has this promotional 3G offer, anyone using this 599 stick plan / 2G mobile plan /or whatever 2G plan will get 3G speeds but only till vodafone keeps this offer. After that the 599 plan may be entirely phased out or may be limited to some capped speed (like tata has limited speed of normal GPRS users to 128kbps and reliance has i think capped to 64kbps when phone/modem is used in 3G mode)
