the world knows it, every print & TV media writes about him, everyday sachin tendulkar is somewhere in some newspaper or TV in some corner of the world. every kid in the world who plays cricket wants to be sachin tendulkar. he is GOD of cricket & no one rates GOD.

Might NOT be the most skilled, maybe Don Bradman is IDK never saw him play but cricket being a true gentleman's game and all, you just couldn't ask someone better than Sachin to be its greatest player of this generation. Besides being an absolutely humble guy, the man eats bowlers for breakfast and has been doing it since 20 freakin' years (I WAS 1yr old and now I'm an adult god DAMN) and he's not done yet.

He may be a god of cricket, but that means jack when the poll is about the most influential people. Sachin is barely popular enough, let alone influential enough to top that list. So yeah the race is between the others (Again many of which I don't think should be on that list in the first place), Sachin was out of that race before he started. The only reason he is on the 7th position is because India is a large country and many people mindlessly voted for him without even realizing what the poll is about.
