Hi
Since most of the sites and VOIP services are blocked here in UAE, i want to get a VPN service.

Suggest some good ones which aren't too costly

TIA

I always use strongvpn.com whenever I'm in the UAE and it has worked flawlessly. No problems with Skype and other stuff that stupid Etisalat and Du block.

If you know your way around the horrendous red tape and have a bit of technical know-how, head over to openvpn.net, set it up on your machine and tunnel your connections through it and that would be free.

P.S.: Just occured to me that you probably won't be able to access any of the major vpn service web sites since they're already blocked by the shitty providers. Do you (or anyone you know) work at the DIC/DIFC? They have an open IP system that's not linked with the consumer network and you could probably get/buy a VPN connection through that.

P.P.S.: If you need something cheaper (and potentially less reliable), check out blackbytenetworks.com and witopia.com. Some of my business colleagues have used them in the past with fairly good success.

Strongvpn.com is blocked by Etislut, But i can tell my bro who is in US to buy for me...is it worth ? and how much for a month ?

and is openvpn reliable ?

will check others

Etislut.. hahahaha.. btw, you could try accessing these vpn web sites through a proxy. I'm guessing that you already know the ones that are still accessible.

StrongVPN costs $15/mth ($150/year) although they usually have some kind of discounts on offer every couple of months. Ask your bro to inquire before placing an order.

OpenVPN is great if you know how to set it up. The big hassle occurs when the stupid dishdashas block that particular IP. You'll have to re-route your connections through another IP. Give it a try. Here's a primer with instructions to set it up:
