Hi,

I am a big HL fan (read Valve) and have been for years. I want to play HL Alyx but I feel doing an investment of 50k+ to experience that is just an overkill.

Any reliable places from where one can rent Valve Index or HTC Vive ? Pune would be preferable.

Maybe this concept can work in cyber cafes/gaming cafes.
One issue is that unless it is a standalone vr it will also require good investment for gaming pc as well. Also the gaming library is good on pc side but for oculus you are stuck with their store and it requires login via facebook

Thats the challenge with VR - so many entry barriers that one gets put off very easily. It is still an elite engagement and unless it reaches the masses, true innovation will not happen as the size and scale will be tough to achieve.

The price point where VR gets viable is 1000$ including headset and gaming hardware. Otherwise, it will remain a hobbyist.
