Just got Corsair VX450 Smps :hap2: The issue is that it comes with awkward shaped power cable :S

Which doesn't fit in any of the plug  :ashamed: What sort of plug is that ? Is it shipped to be used with Sine wave UPS ? :S

I am pretty much clueless , I just read that Active PFC will only work with Sine wave UPS :S

I have a Sukam UPS and I have no clue if its sine wave or not

Please assist me :)

Regards

Ya, active PFC PSu needs a sine wave UPS, though it ll work on normal ones too. But in that case, many abnormal behaviors might occur like humming noise from UPS, and lot other.

But the connector thing isnt UPS's fault. You can get the PSu power connector from ny local shop. Same is used for LCDs, other PSUs..and the likes.
Y dont u try the cable came with ur older PSU? VX 450 might be having the US standard connectors

Me 2 have a VX450 and I changed the power chord to a normal one by using a spare one. Or if you want to use this one only(I guess its an American plug), you can buy and adapter to European to American plug socket. and use the same. And I believe what we get from an UPS output to the CPU is a sinewave (220 V).

Sine wave UPS are expensive than normal ones. And i think when mains is ON, the UPS just routes the main power to system, so the problem wont be there, and the abnormal behaviors shud occur only in backup mode of UPS. Im not 100% sure, as i have a Su Kam Sine wave inverter, and a non sine Hykon UPS for my system, so havnt tried it as the signal coming to UPS is always sine wave.

Just use the same power cable as the old PSU. I'm still using my 2 year old power cable with VX450.
I dnt have a sine wave UPS as well. Just my APC 650VA and no humming, nothing happens. Or neither any other issues whatsoever.

Just go ahead, put the cable and enjoy. :ohyeah:

Buy a Rs. 10 connector and use any UPS, no issues with VX450. Congrats BTW, wise thing u did finally.

I would recommend you get a converter /adapter sort of thing from the local electric shop for 20-30 bucks(that's what I am using) and use the cable that came with the VX 450.Reason being, If I am not wrong the Corsair cable comes with a blow fuse built in the socket and even the cable overall seems to be off better quality.

He's asking about a cable and you give him a story. Use any other power cable, will do...
I use an HX620 and no such issue with the cable, although it is much better quality.
