Waiting for The PS3

I'm not so sure what it is about the PS3 presently that drives people insane. I think the PS2 is to blame for the most part. Still, it makes little sense to get one before it officially launches in India(or atleast some people have claimed it will). Games will actually have decent, fixed prices by then and you'll get better service too.

hmmmm......before it is launched ???? coz i think that it would be better to wait till may-jun, ie after he release so that the prices plummet due to the competition with the xbox360......at least it is still available in Alpha, Mumbai for 27k.........

^Erm.. am I the only guy to have actually seen the PS3 for sale in Palika? I saw it when I picked up my PSP from there. Didn't ask about the price though.

I saw it too, but it was NTSC/J.

No problems though, Ps3 is region free, and even the intruction manuels are given in english and japanese.

I even saw Ps3 games for sale. Marvel Ultimate Alliance in its Bluray glory, didn't ask the price >_<

kk...wat do u think the original version will cost at the time of release ??? coz sony has to compete with xboxs 20quid pricing......

Xbox360 20 gig costs 400$, Ps3 20 gig costs 500$, ps3 60 gig costs 600$.

For PAL/European - they are only releasing the 60 gigger version. And if that wasn't bad enough, European 60 gigger is a 100-150$ more expensive than the US version. So we'll be getting it for around 720$ and that's without the Indian tax, round it up to 800-900$ with tax and you get around 35000 - 45000. Assured, it will cost in only around that price length.

And Xbox360 Core version is 21k officialy, the premium is 27.5k, and that's still a little low because we got the official launch.

Though, from grey market, it'll be cheaper. If it costs too much there's nothing wrong in going for NTSC/J 20 gig Ps3. You miss practically nothing except inbuilt wifi (which you can add later with a difference device). It should cost nothing more than 26k.

There are a bunch of people here claiming that it will. Not sure what their sources are but even if they're only guessing, it makes little sense for Sony not to. They actually have a better foothold in India over MS to actually do something like this and now a real incentive to do so as well(i.e X360 officially launching).
