Want a Home Theater system for my Sony TV

Want to buy a Home Theater for my newly purchased Sony 40" LED TV.

Budget: 10-15k

5.1 setup preferred. Will not be used for uber loud music or anything. Movies, normal watching, a good experience.

Want to buy ASAP. Suggestions welcome

I will mostly be playing videos using the USB pen drive. Just want the 5.1 or 2.1 Speaker set which ever will be better.

I would suggest you go in for a 2.1 system right now and gradually expand to 5.1 if you really "miss" the surround sound experience. My preference is Yamaha, but that will set you back by a lot. The receiver alone will cost you around 20k depending on model and features. Its best you go to a showroom with your favourite DVD/Blu-Ray and audition the systems there.

You do get 5.1 HT systems for 10-15K, but trust me once you listen to one of the top brands you wont feel like listening to any of those 5.1 HTiB systems. Just 'cause you got a new TV does not means you shuold go all out and bu any run-of-the mill HTiB. Everyone's listening preference is different so Audition some systems, even if they are out of your budget, then decide which to buy. A good 2.1 system will sound much better than a cheap 5.1 system. For e.g. last day I saw a Philips 5.1 HT system for 5000 ata store; but obviously the sound was crap!

Currently deciding on 5-10k 2.1 or 15-20k 5.1 setup
