I too was looking to have a puppy of labrador, German Shepherd/Alsatian or Doberman as pet. Well any idea how much these ones costs? I know pure breeds are very expensive but atleast >60 % was looking for. Also any from hyderabad, knows where we can get good breed above mentioned puppies.

@ OT & cri_sss: Here in Delhi you can good, healthy labradors & german shepherds for 7k to 12K. But rarely price goes over 10k.

Thanx Everybody,

But maybe some member of TE has a [Pure Breed] Dog that gave birth to 5-7 Puppies

They will cost you pal..
I remember my friend who has a male dog earns around 5k for sperm "donation".

You wont get a dog for free until you got some relatives or friends who has some puppies with them ... me 2 own few dogs .. my cross breeded pomerian is a bit oversized than the usual ones so hes like always in demand for the sperm donation thing and that costs :P ...

if i get a rottweiler ill need another 2 dogs to protect me from it ;)

Not actually. Dogs become what you want them to become - training. Its all how you raise the dog, not the breed. :|

I have had mine since she was a week old.

Rottweilers are good.

But mine died because of a stupid infection for which they don't have medicines in India :(

He was 2 months old :(

I dont like dogs with wet faces... [Like Pugs, etc...]

Rottweiler's face is similar...

Anyways whats its average cost???

A pure breed rottweiler or German shepherd or Golden retriever or Labrador retriever would cost 25k I think. Labrador costs 8k.

The first 2 are very loyal to the main owner. My pup used to bark back at a person if they'd dare shout at me :P but then it was :( a baby

This might help:

The cost of the puppy depends on the parentage and pedigree. Here is the list of various variable influencing the cost of a puppy:

· If the puppy is registered with kennel club of India the cost will be higher

· If the parents or the pedigree showing in registration papers are champion the cost will be even higher.

· If the puppies from previous litter have been performing good in national shows the cost will rise.

· If you are buying from a reputed breeder and if he is promising about the quality, the price can go up.

But speaking practically a good Labrador with out papers shall cost around 5k in the market. (Can be plus minus 1.5k depending on the health). Sometimes Male puppies are costlier than female puppies. This Quality can be classified as PET QUALITY

A champion bloodline puppy shall cost around 10k with papers and KCI microchiped. This Quality is SHOW QUALITY

Champion bloodlines pick of the litter, with amazing health, type and imported linage puppy shall cost around 20-25K. This Quality is Show Winning Quality

40-45 k can be asked for a out standing 3 month old puppy which the breeder is sure will make you proud in KCI shows and can compete for Dog Of the Year Prize

To a layman who is new to dog game how does it matter to spend more money?? Over a period of time keeping and managing all sorts of puppies I have personally realized the well pedigreed puppies are easy to maintain and keep. This is with logic behind. Pedigreed puppies are breed to behavior, which means they are true to the breed's distinct behavior. This means easy to train, easy to keep.

My Lhasa Apso will gnaw and bite at anything that moves and is flesh and bones. Yes he lives with us in the house and its a circus and sheer determination just keep self away from his teeth. Someone told me i spoilt him and the owner is responsible for his dog behavior.

They further go to state that i will make for a bad father.

Last week i was blessed with a girl child !
