kodakl is no good ... Is say its down to the Canon IXUS IS ...and the Sony T77 ....I bet the sony would produce better images , but the IXUS will be more pocketable ....

Nothing is more pocketable than T77.. It is such a beauty. even the lens does not comes out while zooming. It's a folding type lens.

Don't select the Canon Ixus series if you need wide angle. If wide angle is not important to you, choose the Canon Ixus 95 eyes closed.

With the T77, note that you are not going to be able to shoot more than 200 pics on a single recharge.

As someone has recommended earlier, I think your best choice is the Sony W270.

I am thinking of buying it myself. The price is much higher than what I have budgeted myself but I think its worth it. Trying to see if I can get a good deal somewhere.

The best part of this camera is it records HD videos in MPEG4 compressed format !!

if by any chace you can go in for a thicker cam take a look at this

Fujifilm FinePixS2000 HD
this one has dual image stabilisation (CCD shift plus high ISO) to help avoid camera-shake and keep your photos sharp, and there’s a 2.7 inch LCD screen and an electronic viewfinder for image composition.
supports ISO 100-6400
Shoots videos at HD 720p (1280 x 720 pixels) that too in 16:9. You can also zoom the 15x lens during movie recording,[that should be intresting]
and then connect the Fujifilm S2000HD to a HD TV using the supplied remote control and cable to view your handiwork.

it will set you back by 13k
it is a real bad a** camera ....(even m personnaly collecting mnny for this )
