use a tool like CPUID to find out your motherboard model.

also post with your budget.

2) Intended Usage
I need this for Gaming. I just bought a game "Act of War" It needs ATI Radeon 8500+ or Matrox Parhelia+ or Nvidia GeForce3 or above (except geForce4 MX series)

I would need this only for GAming so I dont want to spend much. May be 3K.

i was basically trying to find out whether your motherboard has a graphics card slot or not. i guess it does. though you could be better off in either opening up the cabinet and confirming or checking up the manual for your motherboard. it should be listed in your manual as a PCIExp 16X Slot.

with about 500 bucks added to a budget such as yours, an ideal card would be the 8600GT.

For 3k, you could get yourself a Radeon 3650. Though an 8600 GT (for a little more) would be better.

The game I bought was asking for ATI Radeon 8500 and above. Is Radeon 3650 above 8500 radeon?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I read not much better reviews on 8600GT so if we forget about budget what would be a better card for a 17inch LCD display and gaming purpose.??

if you forgot about budget i could recommend a card that costs 450 dollars in the states and costs around 30k here in India. :eek:hyeah::eek:hyeah:

would you buy that? :p

the radeon 8500 you are talking about is really ancient as far as gfx cards are concerned. the cards being recommended here are much newer and wayyy better than that.

when buying a card, if you are unsure of what features you want, atleast decide on a budget you can commit to first. then ask for help :) makes a lot more sense.

in case you are interested in playing all current generation games at all high settings and a resolution of 1280*1024 you should be looking at getting something like a 9600GT for around 6.5k odd..( mebbe a lil lesser too)
