Toshiba 32av800e is a good vfm LCD tv for about 16k @ letsbuy using coupon code. Only problem sometimes is their delivery timelines

Thanks for the replies!

I'm willing to extend the budget by 3-4k if its worth it.

Are companies like Philips or Toshiba good enough? Or should I rather buy a smaller screen(but assuming better quality) from brands like Samsung?

First of all do you want LCD or CRT.

I prefer CRT for Long Life & ZERO maintaince cost & care like LCD's.

NEVER EVER go with Dealer Warranty as most probably it's grey market or out of warranty or old stock (EOL) set.

If difference is up to 2k only than don't go with Online Buying.

Go to near by CROMA or other Big shop for wide choice, note down the model number & place order with near by Retail Store as I'm sure you will get Sweet deal compare to those big stores.

Thanks. Also, I heard that with a normal cable tv connection(which I have), the picture quality isn't good on a LCD. So I'm now also confused whether to go for CRT or LCD. I'm going to go to a nearby shop soon to check the quality on the LCD TVs. If it's good enough then I'll buy it.

Just today I got chance to check 17" Sansui LCD TV to check with NORMAL cable tv connection & it's very disappointing. My 21" CRT TV is more brighter more clear & just can't see any pixel even from 24" away but with LCD clearly visible pixel around sub title & pics.

PS: OP what is your Current TV?

My uncle got a LG 26 inch lcd for around 19k just recently. (link)

Picture is quite good and bright compared to crt. It takes power of 120w compared to 29" crt which takes 150w.

And source was a old mpeg2 dishtv stb. the newer mpeg4 stb's are much better in picture quality. I would have told him to get the led version of the lcd tv but it was not available with the dealer.

Its not full hd. Might be TN panel. Colour seems a bit dark for people's faces etc.

I think the led version is LG 26LE5300 for around 21k. (link)

Seems like it has ips panel. Has 178 degree viewing angle. Have a look at it. :)

^^ Looks like a good deal. Thanks for sharing.

I am Planning to purchase it, Anything particularly wrong with this model in Series 4, How come it is priced so cheap?
