Based on what I've read, NVIDIA has a better rep with gamers, and AMD has more issues. I'd prefer an NVIDIA card, but I'm not averse to an AMD one if it is obviously superior.

My native resolution is 1440x900. I just use that. Whenever I upgrade my monitor, I tend to stick with the native rez.
