I missed this one frm ebay
and what should I get the PAL one or NTSC one?
Sure, I know I have a PAL compliant TV (Being in India)
but I heard that PAL dvds don't work in NTSC systems and vice-versa..
So I'll end up having only a few choices... (Or is there a mod for this also?)
and coming to the mods...
Can't all this be done by a soft-mod free of cost???

Most likely, the lens of the drive in a used X-box will be screwed...Not worth taking the chance IMHO
Modded X-boxes will play only copied discs w-o any issues with switching b/w PAL/NTSC
To play original discs in a modded box, you can switch off the modchip (the method varies from chip-chip, e.g. with the Messiah chip, you need to keep the power button pressed for 4 secs to toggle the chip on/off)
DO not worry abt the TV though...nearly all TVs can automatically switch b/w Pal/Ntsc signals
