So in short, CS was that 'good' game that brought competitive gaming to the forefront because people started playing it competitively because it was 'good'
.
sure it is a good game,i nver said anything against it and it brought alot to competive gaming
but just you saying it brought it to the forefront isn't true and thats what i don't agree with
alot of other games did alot too and before CS so just crediting CS isn't fair.i'm not discrediting CS but just saying its not alone
yeah in india CS is big
As much as I dislike CS, you are just spinning words around to make something that is true seem not to be so and CS did infact make competitive gaming big. Before CS, there were only a handful developer organized Quake tourneys in place of the professional scene we have today.
just because tourneys aren't held doesn't mean the games aren't competitive.this thinking again is what i'[m against that just because a tourney is their the game is competitive.
MW2 doesn't have any tourneys(just giving the game as an example so don't start discussing it,doesn't mean it isn't competive.its just that very low percent of gamers WW like to go to a locataion and compete.they like to compete from their home on their couch on PSN and XBL or on PC.and even then they don't like to compete as that makes it kind of serious but as fun
On another note, I think simracing should be given a spot in competitive gaming tourneys, it'd appeal to both the e-sports as well as the conventional sports crowd.
i love sim racing and GRAN TURISMO series but no it wouldn't be popular sorry.
sim racing is too detailed and not so popular outside one or two franchises so it will be hard to get people
But most simracers are in their mid 40s and doubt they'd even want to bother with tourneys aimed at a much younger demographic.
nothing like that, its more like touneys should be online not a center like thing
Otherwise it'd be an awesome crowd puller since an average league race plays out exactly like a real life racing event, only with more door-to-door battles.
most young people just don't go simracing so it doesn't matter.

@brickhouse:
Go to Steam stats and you will see that CS 1.6 is always in 2nd or 3rd position, and that does not show the countless non steam servers that are running all over the world, the lan party's that are going on and the tournaments that are being hosted.
so
Consoles aren't dumbed down? Then please explain the Autotarget system that is omnipresent in all console shooters.
the autotarget is optional and it doesn't mean its dumbed down
dumbed down would be more like having totally different shitting gameplay which even console gamers wouldn't like but it is not and console gamers like it
CS is the definitive multiplayer game favored by ALL the major tourneys, where the sponsors try to make money. Now they wouldn't bank on CS if it wasn't a big deal right? I wonder how many MW2 tournaments are held every year.
again i never said CS isn't a good game and never said its not definitve
about it being supported has alot of reason as old PC's can play it where as MW2 can't be played on old PC's
MW2 was released last year, its not even and year and you are saying how many competitions every year?
and MW2 would have more of a licensing issue than touneys not adding it,activision is very greedy you know
COD,BATTLEFIELD,MOH are mostly liked by console gamers which don't play that much in tourneys and so tourneys don't add it
third tourneys aren't that big,man WCG the biggest one itself isn't that big so why would console games go to it
You say CS hasn't brought anything big to gaming in India,
i never said about CS bringing anything to india?-you aren't reading correctly again and again
i spoke about the general thing
I say CS is the game that gave India whatever world wide recognition it has. Teams like ACID and A+E are at least known in other countries,
cause gaming isn't that big in india
just because alot of school and college teenagers knowing nothing about gaming go into a cafe and then play their life's out doesn't mean it gave anything
you are actually saying that india didn't know anything about gaming and CS is the only thing out there
i don't think many people even in india know those names ouside CS community
I wonder who knows the name of the best HALO player in India.
why would they, again you are mistaken here as i'm saying it again and again that its not about making your or your teams name known worldwide but how well you follow gaming
No one is forcing you to change your preferences, stick to Dance Dance Revolution for all I care.
"for all i care" - yeah that is what someone says when they try to sound that they are the smarter ones
and your statement above just confirmed you too are a newbie and just judge people with console gaming with dance dance revolution which isn't even out yet
But I think you are very mistaken about some of your perceptions regarding multiplayer gaming.
lmao
i never even talked about the multiplayer part of the game except when you or other guys said anything about it

stop making your own definitions.anyway the topic relates to WCG - which is based on competitive gaming and not "your definition of hardcore" gaming.
I didn't make any defintion, you have to go and learn english
TheFreeDictionary
hard core - The most dedicated, unfailingly loyal faction of a group or organization
and what did that guy say, competive gaming is hardcore gaming and hence PC gaming is hardcore gaming...................lol
and you seem to be supporting it
pc gaming and becoming the best has everything to do with WCG and other such tournaments - they are all about competing and becoming the best in a particular game.
don't we all know its about being the best out os the other players playing at the competition and where have i said anything bad about PC gaming or them being at wcg
i just said they should at a variety and other games subtract PC gaming
you can go on being hardcore in your home
you can be a hardcore anywhere as long as you follow gaming
oh yes they are. auto aim is a part of almost all console FPSes.
it optional
people the world over prefer mouse and keyboard for fps games.
many do many don't
No competitive gamer will prefer a 360 controller to a mouse-keyboard combo for an fps.
again you are wrong here
using a mousekeyboard doesn't make you competitive,it is your choice which one you like to play with
just using a controller doesn't make you incompetive
