Hi i bought a new WD 1TB Internal HDD for my PC about 9 odd months ago as my existing 500GB Sansung wasnt sufficient.

All was good until this morning when My Computer only showed the old 500GB HDD & not the 2 partitions of my new 1TB HDD.

The Device Manager still showes it but thats it

I removed the SATA wire going from the HDD to the Motherboard, cleaned & reattached it - nothing.
Removed the wire again & put it in another SATA slot on the MB & restarted the pc & it detected the hdd & all was good.

Switched-on the PC again now & its again not detecting the new HDD, i tried doing the above again a few times but no luck.

All my important stuff is in there & any help on tiding over this problem will be most appreciated.

Ckeck the drive partition, right click on my computer>manage>disk management. Is yoiur drive listed there along with the partition?

You've opened the Properties screen and not the Manage one. Please check again - Right click on My Computer and select Manage

Just remember to backup to a different drive, not this 1TB HDD. If you are from mumbai, just get ur HDD over to my place if needed, i have around 1.5Tb free.

Well it does detect my WD 1TB & also shows the Partitions in it:

Upon double-clicking on the Photos partition the following pops-up but, nothing happens if i double click on a file/folder, Right-Click/CTRL-C or Drag-Drop dosent work & that greyed-out 'Proceed' button stays just that - Greyed-out for hours

As soon as this drive went problematic, I had a New Jersey based friend buy for me > Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk External Drive USB 3.0 Kit (2TB) for $129.95/-

I just got it yesterday, made a FULL & COMPLETE RECOVERY OF MY DATA.
